This role is ideal for a motivated structural engineer who wants to take ownership of projects, mentor emerging talent, and contribute to the growth of a high-performing regional team.\nYou’ll work on a diverse portfolio of building and building-related structures across the country to support active projects the NE Region and beyond while collaborating with multidisciplinary teams in a dynamic, client-focused environment.\nResponsibilities:\nLead structural design and analysis for a variety of new building projects, including steel, concrete, masonry, and timber.\nPerform condition assessments, investigations, and develop rehabilitation solutions for existing buildings.\nServe as a project engineer and task lead, managing scope, schedule, and budget for structural deliverables.\nDevelop and oversee construction document production using Revit and AutoCAD.\nCoordinate closely with architects, MEP engineers, and other disciplines to deliver integrated solutions.\nProvide mentorship and technical guidance to junior engineers and designers.\nPerform and oversee QA/QC reviews to ensure technical accuracy and code compliance for calculations, drawings, reports, and specifications.\nParticipate in client meetings, proposals, and business development efforts.\nSupport projects through construction administration, including site visits and field observations.\nPlan workloads and manage structural task budgets and schedules.\nMaintain and build strong client relationships.\nSpecialized Experience Required:\nExperience with structural design, field investigations, and client coordination.\nProficient in AutoCAD, Revit, and structural design software.\nFamiliarity with Microsoft Office and Bluebeam/Adobe.\nStrong communication, problem-solving, and technical writing skills.\nDemonstrated ability to manage tasks and deliver quality results on time.\nWorking knowledge of building and design codes.\nSpecialized Experience Preferred:\nInterest in mentoring and team development\nNCEES registration and ability to obtain licensure in other states.\nProficient in RISA, RAM, or similar structural design software.\nStructural Engineer (SE) license.\nWhy KCI:\nReal project ownership - not just production work.\nOpportunity to help grow and shape the Albany structural team.\nDirect client interaction and the ability to help grow relationships.\nLeadership pathway toward Project Manager or Practice Leadership roles.\nExposure to a wide variety of project types, not repetitive design work.\nA collaborative office culture with strong national support.\nEmployee-owned company with a strong growth trajectory.\nCompetitive compensation and performance-based bonuses.\nFlexible work environment and commitment to work-life balance.\nClear career advancement opportunities.\nInvestment in professional development, licensure, and leadership training.\nQualifications\nEducation and/or Work Experience Required:\nBachelor’s degree in Civil or Structural Engineering from an accredited institution.\nMinimum 10 years of experience in structural engineering, including fieldwork and client interaction (buildings-focused preferred).\nProven experience in planning, organizing, estimating, scheduling and monitoring engineering projects.• Proven experience as a technical lead on projects, with a track record of successful project delivery.• Strong organizational and time-management skills, with the ability to prioritize tasks and manage multiple projects simultaneously.• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to effectively interact with clients, team members, and stakeholders.• Knowledge of industry standards and best practices related to construction management, quality assurance, and safety protocols.• Strong problem-solving skills, with the ability to identify issues and implement effective solutions in a fast-paced environment.\nEducation and/or Work Experience Preferred: Master’s degree in Civil or Structural Engineering from an accredited institution.\nCertificates, licenses, and/or Registrations Required:\nLicensed Professional Engineer (P.E.)\nPre-employment drug screening and background check are conditions of employment.
