This role has extensive experience in construction methods, engineering concepts, and managing projects. This role is responsible for oversight of project schedule and budget as well as quality assurance of contractor’s work. \nConstruction Management and Leadership:\nManage various roadway and bridge construction projects.\nOversee project schedules and budgets, ensuring all tasks are completed on time and within budget while fully meeting the scope.\nOperate within specified corporate or project budget parameters.\nPrepare and analyze schedules and cost estimates.\nRead plans and specifications, understanding the construction contractor's means and methods.\nAssist in negotiating contractor change orders.\nSupervise subordinate construction inspectors and provide assistance to project management as required.\nEvaluate staff performance and provide input to project management staff.\nIdentify training requirements and arrange for staff training.\nAttract and develop new inspection staff\nPursue new and strengthened existing relationships with local clients\nSupervise KCI staff within the Western NC Region\nNCDOT certifications and experience (preferred)\nProject Execution and Technical Oversight:\nDirect inspection and material testing efforts on various projects. \nTest, document and assure the quality of the contractor’s work. \nMaintain document control for correspondence, RFIs, submittals, etc. \nStrong computer experience, including office software and drafting software.\nExperience in the operation of field and office engineering instruments.\nAbility to plan, organize, and schedule daily operations and make independent decisions.\nSolve construction problems in the field.\nTraining, Development, and Compliance:\nReview jobsite safety daily and take immediate action to document and resolve issues.\nUnderstand OSHA Safety Standards and KCI corporate policies and follow them at all times.\nUnderstand all applicable industry standards for projects and perform all tasks per standards and client requirements.\nEnsure projects fulfill ISO compliance requirements.\nOther:\nAvailability for day and/or night work to support the contractor's schedule.\n* Essential Duties and Responsibilities are the basic job functions that an employee must be able to perform, with or without reasonable accommodation.\nQualifications\nEducation and/or Skills Required:\nMinimum of 8 years of relevant work experience with a high school diploma/GED or minimum of 6 years of relevant work experience with a Bachelor’s Degree in a related field. \nAbility to understand construction plans, specifications, and procedures. \nDemonstrate basic math skills, including geometry and trigonometry. \nPossess the ability to read, write, and communicate fluently. \nWork effectively as a team member and complete daily reports by hand and computer. \nAbility to establish strong working relationships with various stakeholders. \nCertificates, licenses, and/or Registrations Required:\nValid Driver’s License\nAbility to maintain required certifications.\nPre-employment drug screening and background check are conditions of employment.
