Typical assignments may include assisting with traffic modeling, data collection, traffic impact analyses, traffic signal design tasks, signing and striping plans, and corridor or planning studies. Summer interns will work a 40-hour week, with at least 10 weeks of work required during the period from mid-May to the end of August. Interns will be assigned a dedicated supervisor and mentor, are required to attend planned activities, and must submit mid-summer and end-of-summer reports/presentations.\nResponsibilities include:\nAssist in preparing traffic signal, pavement marking, signing, lighting, and maintenance of traffic plans\n\nSupport Intelligent Transportation Systems (ITS) design efforts\n\nConduct traffic data collection (counts, field observations, etc.)\n\nAssist with traffic impact analyses and traffic operations studies\n\nSupport traffic safety and transportation planning studies\n\nPerform basic traffic analyses using industry software\n\nAssist with quantity takeoffs and cost estimates\n\nHelp prepare written technical memoranda and reports\n\nQualifications\nEducation and/or Skills Required:\nThis is an entry level position where no previous experience is required.\nCurrently enrolled in an ABET-Accredited College Engineering Program\nEducation and/or Work Experience Preferred:\n3.0 GPA or higher\nCertificates, licenses, and/or Registrations Required:\nValid Driver’s License\nPre-employment drug screening and background check are conditions of employment.
