The Category Manager leads end-to-end sourcing initiatives, leverages data-driven insights, and collaborates cross-functionally to deliver sustainable results and continuous improvement.\n\nKey Responsibilities\nCategory Strategy & Management\nDevelop and implement chemical category strategies aligned with business objectives\nManage full category lifecycle including supplier segmentation and risk mitigation\nIdentify and execute value creation opportunities\nMonitor market trends and adapt strategies proactively\nStrategic Sourcing & Supplier Management\nLead complex sourcing initiatives (RFx)\nNegotiate commercial agreements including pricing and terms\nManage supplier relationships and performance\nDrive supplier innovation and continuous improvement\nData, Reporting & Analytics\nAnalyze spending, market intelligence, and supplier performance data to support decision-making\nDevelop category dashboards and KPIs to track performance against targets\nLeverage data insights to identify trends, risks, and optimization opportunities\nEnsure accuracy and integrity of category and supplier data\nMaintain accurate and up-to-date data in procurement trackers to support financial reporting and ensure alignment with Finance requirements\nSite Support\nAct as the primary escalation point for supply issues related to managed suppliers, ensuring timely resolution and minimal operational disruption\nSupport sites in local negotiations, providing guidance and alignment with category strategies and commercial frameworks\nCollaborate with local teams to ensure adherence to preferred suppliers and sourcing strategies while addressing site-specific needs\nProvide expertise and support on supply continuity, risk mitigation, and alternative sourcing when required\nStakeholder Management\nPartner with cross-functional teams\nAct as procurement lead for assigned categories\nInfluence stakeholders and drive adoption\nCompliance & Risk Management\nEnsure compliance with policies and contracts\nManage supply risk and contingency plans\nSupport audit requirements\n\nKey Competencies\nStrong strategic thinking and category management expertise\nAdvanced negotiation and commercial acumen\nStrong analytical and data-driven decision-making skills\nStakeholder influence and leadership across functions\nSupplier relationship management and partnership mindset\nSelf-driven; leads and influences without authority\nProblem-solving and continuous improvement orientation\nAbility to balance strategic initiatives with operational priorities\n\nPreferred Experience\n8–12 years of experience in direct procurement or category management, preferably in chemical categories such as actives, surfactants, alcohols, and extracts etc.\nA bachelor’s degree in business or a related field is required. Experience in pharmaceutical, personal care, home care, beauty industry, or chemical manufacturing environment is strongly preferred.
