You'll define the quality system, embed it across the program's engineering and production, and work shoulder to shoulder with the project engineers to improve the product itself. As we move from prototype to serial production, you'll set the quality bar for our subcontractors and make sure the program grows into it.\nResponsibilities\nBuild the program's quality management system (QMS) toward AS9100/ISO 9001: quality plan, procedures, and working methods.\nWork with project engineers throughout development to improve product quality, reliability, and manufacturability.\nApply MIL-STD requirements across the product lifecycle, from design through qualification and acceptance.\nDefine and enforce quality gates and acceptance criteria at subcontractors.\nAuthor and review qualification and acceptance test procedures (QTP/ATP), inspection plans, and quality records.\nLead first-article inspections for new assemblies, suppliers, and process changes.\nDrive the non-conformance loop: NCRs, root cause and corrective action, and verification that fixes hold.\nEstablish configuration, traceability, and handling controls for safety-critical items.\nPrepare the program for and host external quality audits: customers, certification bodies, and defense authorities.\nTrain the program's teams on quality practices and embed a quality culture.\nTrack and analyze production yield and quality metrics, and drive improvement actions.\nRequirements\n8+ years of quality engineering experience on defense programs.\nBSc in engineering: chemical, materials, mechanical, or electrical.\nDeep working knowledge of MIL-STDs and their application to defense hardware.\nWorking knowledge of AS9100/ISO 9001.\nBuilt or substantially shaped a QMS, not only operated one.\nWrote and executed qualification and acceptance test procedures (QTP/ATP).\nWorked directly with design and project engineers to drive product improvements.\nOversaw production quality at subcontractors.\nFluent in engineering drawings, specifications, and test documentation.\nAdvantages\nExperience standing up the quality function in a startup or new production line.\nSupplier audit and qualification experience.\nLead quality-engineering methods: PFMEA, SPC, MRB.\nKnowledge of acceptance sampling standards for incoming and in-process inspection.\nAbility to inspect to electronics and cable-assembly workmanship standards (IPC-A-610/620).\nCertified quality credentials (CQE or equivalent).","description_format":"text","description_chars":2959,"description_truncated":false,"requirements":{"experience_years_min":8,"management_years_min":null,"team_size_min":null,"manages_managers":false,"education":{"level":"bachelor","optional":false},"security_clearance":false,"languages":[]},"benefits":[],"hiring_locations":[],"hiring_excludes":[],"relocation_offered":false,"industries":[],"lifecycle":[{"event":"open","at":"2026-09-28T05:57:09Z"}],"liveness":{"score":90,"band":"hot","label":"Hiring now","p_open":1,"p_active":0.903,"p_room":1,"age_days":3,"expected_fill_days":47,"reasons":["conf:5","velocity","win:early"],"computed_at":"2026-10-01T05:45:00Z"},"pay":null,"html_url":"https://alion.io/job/kela-quality-engineer","json_url":"https://alion.io/job/kela-quality-engineer.json","meta":{"generated_at":"2026-10-02T00:23:22Z","cache_seconds":300,"methodology":"https://alion.io/methodology","terms":"https://alion.io/terms","contact":"https://alion.io/contact","api":"https://alion.io/developers","usage":{"tier":"crawler","counted_by":"address","units_charged":1,"used_today":272,"day_limit":5000,"remaining_today":4728,"minute_limit":60,"resets_at":"2026-10-03T00:00:00Z"}}}
