This position is ideal for a skilled BAS professional who enjoys troubleshooting complex building systems, working directly with customers, mentoring junior technicians, and helping facilities operate at peak performance.\nAs an HVAC Controls Technician, you will serve as a trusted technical resource for commercial, healthcare, education, industrial, retail, and mission-critical facility customers while leveraging KBS’s advanced remote monitoring and analytics capabilities through the Kelso Digital Operations Center (DOC).\nPosition Summary\nBAS Technicians are responsible for the service, maintenance, troubleshooting, repair, optimization, and customer support of Building Automation Systems and integrated smart building technologies. The role combines field service expertise with remote diagnostics, analytics, cybersecurity awareness, and customer relationship management.\nThis position requires a self-motivated professional capable of independently resolving complex BAS and HVAC control issues while maintaining exceptional customer satisfaction.\nPrimary Responsibilities\nBuilding Automation Service & Support\nTroubleshoot and repair BAS control systems and field devices.\nDiagnose HVAC, mechanical, electrical, and controls-related issues.\nPerform preventative maintenance and service agreement inspections.\nSupport controller replacements, upgrades, migrations, and system expansions.\nValidate sequences of operation and optimize system performance.\nAssist with commissioning, retro-commissioning, and startup activities.\nComplete point-to-point verification and functional performance testing.\nMaintain accurate documentation and system backups\nSmart Building Technologies\nSupport enterprise and site-level building automation platforms.\nAssist customers with energy optimization initiatives.\nConfigure alarming, trending, dashboards, and analytics.\nSupport integration of HVAC, lighting, power monitoring, refrigeration, and specialty systems.\nAssist with Fault Detection & Diagnostics (FDD) initiatives.\nUtilize remote monitoring tools to identify and resolve issues proactively.\nCustomer Support\nDevelop strong customer relationships.\nServe as the primary technical contact for assigned accounts.\nProvide recommendations for system improvements and lifecycle planning.\nIdentify and develop service agreement and project opportunities.\nCoordinate with project managers, service managers, and sales teams.\nLeadership & Mentoring\nMentor junior technicians and apprentices.\nAssist with technical training and onboarding.\nProvide field leadership on complex service projects.\nSupport technical standards and best practices.\nPreferred Technical Experience\nExperience with one or more of the following platforms:\nTridium Niagara\nJohnson Controls Metasys\nDistech Controls\nDelta Controls\nSiemens Desigo\nHoneywell WEBs\nAlerton\nReliable Controls\nKMC Controls\nCarrier i-Vu\nABB\nSchneider Electric EcoStruxure\nAdditional Experience Desired\nBACnet/IP\nBACnet MS/TP\nModbus RTU/TCP\nLonWorks\nMQTT\nAPI Integrations\nNetworking fundamentals\nVPN technologies\nRemote access solutions\nOT cybersecurity best practices\nQualifications\nRequired\n3+ years of BAS service experience.\nStrong HVAC troubleshooting knowledge.\nExperience reading control drawings and sequences of operation.\nExperience commissioning and servicing DDC systems.\nValid driver’s license with acceptable driving record.\nAbility to pass background screening and drug testing.\nStrong communication and customer service skills.\nPreferred\nNiagara N4 Certification.\nManufacturer certifications.\nHVAC Technician certification.\nElectrical troubleshooting experience.\nAssociate degree or technical training in HVAC, Controls, Electronics, or related field.\nCompensation & Benefits\nCompensation\n$30.00 - $45.00+ per hour based on experience and certifications.\nOvertime opportunities.\nPerformance incentives.\ncompany vehicle \nBenefits\nMedical, Dental, and Vision Insurance.\n401(k) with company match.\nPaid Time Off.\nPaid Holidays.\nCompany-provided training and certifications.\nCareer advancement opportunities.\nAccess to industry-leading smart building technologies.\nWhy Join KBS?\nAt Kelso Building Services, we are building the future of intelligent facilities through our nationwide Smart Buildings and Digital Operations initiatives.
