In this role, you will design and code scalable solutions, influence architecture, and provide guidance through technical excellence - not people management. You will work on Guidewire ClaimCenter and its surrounding middleware (Java/SpringBoot, AWS SQS/SNS, AWS Lambdas, AWS PostgreSQL, etc…).\nPosition Responsibilities:\nDesign robust, high-performance solutions across systems and services\nServe as a key technical contributor on critical projects or initiatives within the property & casualty insurance claim domain\nAct as a resource for others by sharing deep technical knowledge and context - without formal leadership or management duties\nEvaluate and advocate for improvements in system architecture, technical standards, and development processes\nCollaborate with stakeholders across engineering and product to align technical implementation with business needs\nCreate proof of concepts to demonstrate capabilities\nEnforce standard coding and security best practices\nWork within SAFe (Scaled Agile Framework)\nPosition Qualifications:\nBachelor’s degree in computer science, computer engineering, or a related field; advanced degree preferred\nMinimum of 8 years of developer experience with at least 2 years in a senior or lead capacity. \nExtensive current Guidewire ClaimCenter developer experience is required\nLanguages such as Java, Gosu, Kotlin, HTML/CSS, JavaScript, TypeScript\nKnowledge of auto insurance; commercial or personal auto lines preferred\nExpert-level understanding of the full SDLC\nAbility to identify bottlenecks or inefficiencies in the software development lifecycle and propose improvements\nDeep familiarity with wide range of software design patterns and architectural principles, applying them to design scalable and maintainable systems\nExpertise with most of the following:Standard design patterns\nCI/CD, Containerization and Orchestration\nUnit testing and integration testing\nVersion control systems (e.g. Git)\nRESTful APIs and microservices\nAI Prompt/Agentic Engineering\nMonitoring and logging via tools like AppDynamics and Splunk\nSpring Boot and container orchestration (EKS/ECS)\nSQL and secure coding practices \nCloud-native architecture and AWS services \nBuild tools & dependency management using Maven or Gradle\nFrameworks such as Angular, React, Vue\nResponsive Design and Progressive Web Apps\nBuild tools & packaging managers such as Webpack/NPM\nGuidewire InsuranceSuite (ClaimCenter, PolicyCenter, BillingCenter)\nGuidewire InsuranceSuite’s PCF, message queues, business rules\nScreen design using Guidewire InsuranceSuite’s PCF\nGuidewire InsuranceSuite’s database model\nGuidewire InsuranceSuite’s assignment rules\nIntegrations with internal systems and vendors using Guidewire InsuranceSuite’s REST APIs, messaging queues, and batches\nTroubleshooting and resolving InsuranceSuite issues\nGuidewire Profiler to analyze performance issues\n\nGuidewire Cloud InsuranceSuite Professional Developer certification is preferred but not required\nThis position can work remotely from a US based home if candidate is not local to a Kemper office.\nThe range for this position is $89000 to $148100. When determining candidate offers, we consider experience, skills, education, certifications, and geographic location among other factors.
