We are open to candidates based in Calgary, Alberta; Edmonton, Alberta; or Sarnia, Ontario. The successful candidate will prepare process engineering calculations and deliverables for industrial and energy projects, working under the guidance of senior engineers and the process lead. This role offers the opportunity to contribute to multidisciplinary projects while developing technical expertise across process design, equipment selection, process safety, and project execution.\nSkills and Responsibilities:\nResponsibilities:\nComplete assigned process engineering activities in accordance with project scope, technical requirements, schedules, and quality procedures.\nPrepare design bases, process descriptions, heat and material balances, process flow diagrams, and piping and instrumentation diagrams for review.\nDevelop and update process simulations under the guidance of senior engineers.\nPerform equipment sizing, hydraulic calculations, and utility assessments, and prepare process equipment datasheets.\nAssist with establishing operating and design conditions and developing control and safeguarding requirements.\nPrepare relief system calculations and supporting documentation under appropriate technical supervision.\nParticipate in hazard identification, HAZOP, and other process safety reviews, and assist with completing assigned actions.\nGather and verify engineering inputs, document assumptions, and identify information required to complete assigned work.\nCoordinate process information with mechanical, piping, instrumentation, electrical, and other engineering disciplines.\nReview vendor documentation for alignment with process requirements and raise discrepancies for resolution.\nAssist with technical evaluations, engineering studies, and assessment of process alternatives.\nSupport site visits, field data collection, construction queries, commissioning, and startup activities when required.\nIncorporate review comments and maintain consistency across calculations, drawings, datasheets, and other deliverables.\nCommunicate task progress, technical concerns, and potential schedule impacts to the senior engineer or process lead.\nMaintain complete engineering records and follow project quality assurance and document control procedures.\nIn addition to the responsibilities listed herein, the employee may be required to perform other ad-hoc tasks as needed or directed by the supervisor or management. These tasks will be within the reasonable scope of the employee's skills, capabilities, and role within the organization. All such tasks will be assigned considering the employee's current workload and with respect to their professional development.\nYour knowledge/skills, education, and experience:\nKnowledge/ Qualification/ Training/ Certification:\nA Bachelor’s degree in Chemical Engineering, Process Engineering, or a related engineering discipline is required.\nRelevant process engineering experience preparing calculations and deliverables for industrial or energy projects.\nProfessional Engineer registration with APEGA or PEO is required.\nWorking knowledge of process engineering fundamentals, including thermodynamics, fluid flow, heat transfer, and material and energy balances.\nExperience preparing process flow diagrams, piping and instrumentation diagrams, equipment datasheets, and engineering calculations.\nExperience using process simulation tools, such as Aspen HYSYS, Aspen Plus, or equivalent software.\nWorking knowledge of equipment sizing, hydraulic calculations, and utility requirements.\nUnderstanding of process safety principles and familiarity with hazard review processes.\nAwareness of applicable codes, standards, regulatory requirements, and client specifications.\nAbility to interpret technical information, document assumptions, and recognize when guidance is required.\nStrong analytical skills, attention to detail, and a commitment to developing technical capability.\nAbility to organize assigned work and meet agreed deadlines.\nCommunication:\nExcellent command of the English language in both oral and written communication.\nAbility to prepare clear calculations, technical notes, and engineering documentation.\nAbility to communicate effectively with colleagues across engineering disciplines.\nWillingness to ask questions, seek guidance, and raise technical concerns promptly.\nAbility to provide accurate progress updates and explain technical findings clearly.\nBehavior/ Core Competencies:\nTake responsibility for assigned work and follow through on commitments.\nApply a careful, analytical approach to engineering tasks.\nWork collaboratively and respond positively to technical review and feedback.\nRecognise the limits of personal experience and seek support when required.\nMaintain a proactive approach to learning and professional development.\nDemonstrate adaptability and effective time management.\nContribute to continuous improvement and share relevant knowledge with colleagues.\nDemonstrate ethical conduct and a commitment to safe, high-quality engineering.\nHSSEQ:\nThe Employee shall observe the Health, Safety, Sustainability, Environment and Quality rules of the Company;
