The successful candidate will provide technical leadership for specifying, selecting, reviewing, and procuring static mechanical equipment for industrial projects. Working closely with multidisciplinary teams, clients, and equipment suppliers, you will deliver safe, reliable, and practical engineering solutions from initial design through construction and commissioning.\nSkills and Responsibilities:\nResponsibilities:\nLead static equipment engineering activities, ensuring deliverables meet project scope, technical requirements, budgets, and schedules.\nPrepare and review equipment specifications, mechanical datasheets, material requisitions, technical bid evaluations, and procurement recommendations.\nReview vendor drawings, design calculations, fabrication documentation, inspection and test plans, and final equipment records.\nEvaluate equipment designs for materials selection, corrosion allowance, design pressure and temperature, nozzle loads, supports, and maintenance requirements.\nApply relevant industry codes, standards, client specifications, and project requirements to static equipment design and procurement.\nCoordinate equipment interfaces with process, piping, materials, civil, structural, instrumentation, and electrical engineering disciplines.\nSupport pressure equipment registration activities and associated technical documentation, as applicable to the project.\nResolve technical queries, review supplier deviations, and assess engineering changes.\nParticipate in design reviews and risk assessments, addressing equipment safety, constructability, operability, and maintainability.\nProvide technical support during equipment fabrication, inspection, installation, testing, and commissioning.\nSupport assessments of existing equipment for modifications, repairs, replacement, or changes in operating conditions.\nMentor junior and intermediate engineers and review engineering deliverables within assigned responsibilities and authority.\nCommunicate engineering progress, technical risks, and recommended solutions to project managers and clients.\nMaintain complete engineering records and follow project quality assurance and document control procedures.\nIn addition to the responsibilities listed herein, the employee may be required to perform other ad-hoc tasks as needed or directed by the supervisor or management. These tasks will be within the reasonable scope of the employee's skills, capabilities, and role within the organization. All such tasks will be assigned considering the employee's current workload and with respect to their professional development.\nYour knowledge/skills, education, and experience:\nKnowledge/Qualification/Training/Certification:\nBachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering or a related engineering discipline.\nProfessional Engineer designation with APEGA required.\n10+ or more years of relevant mechanical engineering experience, including substantial experience with static equipment for industrial projects.\nDemonstrated experience with pressure vessels, shell-and-tube heat exchangers, storage tanks, and related equipment.\nStrong working knowledge of relevant ASME, API, TEMA, and CSA codes and standards.\nFamiliarity with Alberta pressure equipment registration processes and associated documentation.\nExperience preparing equipment specifications, evaluating supplier proposals, and reviewing vendor deliverables.\nProficiency in reviewing mechanical design calculations; experience with COMPRESS, PV Elite, or equivalent software is an asset.\nAbility to interpret equipment drawings, piping and instrumentation diagrams, process datasheets, and material specifications.\nExperience in oil and gas, petrochemical, chemical processing, or comparable industrial facilities is an asset.\nFabrication, inspection, construction, or commissioning support experience is an asset.\nCommunication:\nExcellent command of the English language in both oral and written communication.\nAbility to explain technical requirements and recommendations clearly to clients, suppliers, and multidisciplinary teams.\nStrong technical report writing, documentation, and presentation skills.\nAbility to communicate project priorities, technical concerns, and progress effectively.\nBehavior/ Core Competencies:\nDemonstrates ownership, accountability, and sound professional judgment.\nMaintains a strong commitment to safety, sustainability, quality, and ethical conduct.\nWorks collaboratively and builds constructive relationships across disciplines.\nTakes a practical, proactive approach to technical problem-solving.\nManages competing priorities while maintaining accuracy and attention to detail.\nProvides technical leadership and supports the development of others.\nAdapts effectively to changing project requirements and priorities.\nHSSEQ:\nThe Employee shall observe the Health, Safety, Sustainability, Environment and Quality rules of the Company;
