We are open to candidates based in Calgary or Edmonton, Alberta. The successful candidate will develop and review process engineering deliverables for industrial and energy projects, applying sound engineering judgment to deliver safe, reliable, and practical solutions. Working closely with the process lead and multidisciplinary teams, you will support projects from initial studies and design development through detailed engineering and construction support.\nSkills and Responsibilities:\nResponsibilities:\nExecute process engineering activities in accordance with project scope, technical requirements, budgets, and schedules.\nPrepare and review design bases, process descriptions, heat and material balances, process flow diagrams, and piping and instrumentation diagrams.\nDevelop and review process simulations to evaluate operating conditions, equipment performance, and design alternatives.\nPerform equipment sizing, hydraulic calculations, and utility assessments, and prepare process equipment datasheets.\nDevelop operating and design conditions, control philosophies, and safeguarding requirements in coordination with other disciplines.\nPrepare and review relief system calculations and associated documentation, as applicable to assigned work.\nParticipate in hazard identification, HAZOP, and other process safety reviews, and complete assigned actions.\nAssess process alternatives and recommend improvements to safety, operability, reliability, and efficiency.\nCoordinate process requirements and interfaces with mechanical, piping, instrumentation, electrical, and other engineering disciplines.\nReview vendor documentation and provide process engineering input to equipment selection and procurement.\nResolve technical queries and identify design deviations or changes requiring review by the process lead.\nSupport preparation of engineering estimates, deliverable schedules, and progress updates.\nReview the work of junior and intermediate engineers within assigned responsibilities and authority.\nProvide guidance and mentoring to less experienced team members.\nSupport site assessments, construction, commissioning, startup, and troubleshooting activities when required.\nCommunicate technical concerns, scope changes, and potential schedule or budget impacts to the process lead and project team.\nMaintain complete engineering records and follow project quality assurance and document control procedures.\nIn addition to the responsibilities listed herein, the employee may be required to perform other ad-hoc tasks as needed or directed by the supervisor or management. These tasks will be within the reasonable scope of the employee's skills, capabilities, and role within the organization. The intent of this provision is to allow for flexibility and adaptability in meeting the dynamic needs of the organization, ensuring that operational requirements can be met efficiently. All such tasks will be assigned considering the employee's current workload and with respect to their professional development.\nYour knowledge/skills, education, and experience:\nKnowledge/ Qualification/ Training/ Certification:\nA Bachelor’s degree in Chemical Engineering, Process Engineering, or a related engineering discipline is required.\nProfessional Engineer registration with APEGA is required.\nSignificant relevant process engineering experience on industrial or energy projects.\nStrong knowledge of process engineering fundamentals, including thermodynamics, fluid flow, heat transfer, and material and energy balances.\nExperience preparing and reviewing process design calculations, simulations, drawings, datasheets, and technical reports.\nProficiency with relevant process simulation tools, such as Aspen HYSYS, Aspen Plus, or equivalent software.\nKnowledge of equipment sizing, hydraulic analysis, utility systems, and relief system design.\nExperience participating in process safety reviews and addressing associated recommendations.\nWorking knowledge of applicable codes, standards, regulatory requirements, and client specifications.\nExperience coordinating technical interfaces within multidisciplinary engineering teams.\nAbility to plan assigned work, assess technical information, and resolve engineering problems.\nExperience supporting greenfield and brownfield projects is an asset.\nCommunication:\nExcellent command of the English language in both oral and written communication.\nAbility to explain technical issues and recommendations clearly to colleagues, clients, and project stakeholders.\nStrong technical writing skills for engineering reports, specifications, and design documentation.\nAbility to communicate progress, technical risks, and required decisions promptly.\nAbility to provide clear technical guidance and constructive feedback to less experienced engineers.\nBehavior/Core Competencies:\nTake ownership of assigned deliverables and maintain a high standard of technical quality.\nApply sound engineering judgement and seek specialist input when required.\nWork independently within assigned responsibilities and collaborate effectively across disciplines.\nSupport and mentor junior and intermediate engineers.\nDemonstrate analytical thinking, attention to detail, and practical problem-solving.\nManage priorities and maintain focus on project scope, schedule, and budget.\nRemain open to feedback, new approaches, and professional development.\nDemonstrate ethical conduct and a commitment to safe, high-quality engineering.\nHSSEQ:\nThe Employee shall observe the Health, Safety, Sustainability, Environment and Quality rules of the Company;
