We are looking for a skilled and analytically driven SAM Remediation Data Team Lead to support the Department of Veterans Affairs’ enterprise-wide Software Asset Management (SAM) Remediation on ServiceNow. This role sits at the intersection of data engineering and software asset intelligence, responsible for leading the data team, designing, building, and maintaining the analytics infrastructure that enables data-driven decision-making across the SAM program. The ideal candidate combines deep ServiceNow Platform Analytics expertise and management experience with strong data modeling skills and a passion for translating complex data into actionable compliance and optimization insights. This is a critical role in advancing the VA’s SAM maturity and ensuring stakeholders have the intelligence they need to manage software assets effectively at enterprise scale.\nLocation: Remote - This position can be performed remotely within the United States and will support Eastern Time working hours.\nCompensation Range: The anticipated base salary range for this position is $115,000 –$165,000 annually and reflects Kentro’s good-faith expectations at the time of posting. Final compensation is determined based on the role’s requirements, relevant skills, experience, education, certifications, work location, applicable security clearance requirements, market conditions, internal equity, and contract requirements.\nThis Job Description reflects the primary duties of the role; however, it is not intended to be all‑inclusive. Team members may be asked to take on additional responsibilities in alignment with customer expectations, business needs, and Kentro’s culture of collaboration and adaptability.\n\nResponsibilities\n\nTeam Leadership\nLead and manage the SAM Data Team, providing day-to-day oversight of the SAM Data Team, including task assignment, quality review, and progress tracking against remediation targets.\n\nMentor, support and guide staff in career development including recurring one-on-one meetings and performance evaluations.\n\nServiceNow Platform Analytics Design and Implementation\n\nDelivering meaningful analytics requires a strong foundation in both the platform and the underlying data. This engineer will:\n\nDesign, build, and maintain ServiceNow Platform Analytics reports and dashboards tailored to SAM program needs, including software usage, compliance status, and license optimization opportunities.\n\nTranslate stakeholder reporting requirements into functional analytics solutions within the ServiceNow environment.\n\nEnsure dashboards and reports are performant, accurate, and accessible to both technical and non-technical users.\n\nEstablish and document standards for report naming conventions, data refresh cadences, and dashboard governance.\n\nData Modeling and IntegrationAccurate, well-structured data is the foundation of reliable analytics. The SAM Data Team Lead will:\n\nDesign and implement data models that support software asset tracking, compliance monitoring, and usage trend analysis within ServiceNow SAM.\n\nIdentify, evaluate, and integrate relevant external data sources — such as software publisher catalogs, contract data, and procurement records — into the ServiceNow platform to enrich internal analytics.\n\nCollaborate with integration engineers and platform administrators to ensure data pipelines are reliable, well-documented, and aligned with VA data governance standards.\n\nMaintain data quality standards, including validation rules, reconciliation processes, and exception handling procedures.\n\nPredictive Analytics and Compliance Intelligence\nProactive insight generation is central to delivering value to VA stakeholders. The SAM Data Team Lead will:\n\nDevelop predictive analytics models and trend analyses to forecast software usage patterns, license shortfalls, and compliance risk areas.\n\nBuild automated alerting and exception reporting to surface high-priority compliance gaps before they escalate.\n\nSupport software optimization analysis, identifying opportunities to consolidate licenses, retire unused software, and reduce costs.\n\nPartner with internal and external stakeholders to align analytics outputs with program goals and VA needs.\n\nReporting, Documentation, and Stakeholder Support\nClear communication of data findings is as important as the findings themselves. This SAM Data Team Lead will:\n\nProduce recurring and ad hoc analytics reports for project leadership, VA Product Owners, and cross-functional stakeholders on a defined cadence.\n\nTranslate complex data findings into clear, concise narratives and visualizations appropriate for both technical and executive audiences.\n\nMaintain thorough documentation of data models, report logic, integration mappings, and dashboard configurations to support knowledge transfer and audit readiness.\n\nProvide training and guidance to team members and stakeholders on interpreting and using analytics outputs effectively.\n\nQualifications\n\nBachelor’s degree in computer science, information systems, data science, or a related field (8 years of additional relevant experience may be substituted for education).\n\n8+ years of experience in data engineering, analytics, or business intelligence, preferably in IT asset management or enterprise platform context.\n\nHands-on experience with ServiceNow, including Platform Analytics, Performance Analytics, or reporting toolsets.\n\nDemonstrated experience designing data models and building analytics solutions that integrate internal and external data sources.\n\nStrong proficiency in data query languages and tools (e.g., SQL, Power BI, ServiceNow Glide Record, or equivalent).\n\nExperience working with software asset management or IT asset management data, including software usage records, license entitlements, and compliance metrics.\n\nStrong analytical and problem-solving skills with the ability to translate ambiguous requirements into structured analytics solutions.\n\nExcellent verbal and written communication skills, including experience presenting data findings to leadership and cross-functional stakeholders.\n\nExperience working in federal or compliance-driven environments strongly preferred.\n\n Preferred Qualifications: \n\nExperience with ServiceNow Software Asset Management (SAM) Pro module, including normalized software library, reclamation rules, and compliance dashboards.\n\nFamiliarity with predictive analytics or machine learning techniques applied to IT operations or asset management data.\n\nExperience integrating external data sources into ServiceNow using Import Sets, Data Sources, or Integration Hub.\n\nServiceNow Certified System Administrator (CSA), ServiceNow Certified Implementation Specialist – SAM, or Performance Analytics certification, or willingness to obtain.\n\nIAITAM Certified Software Asset Manager (CSAM) or equivalent certification.\n\nExperience supporting VA or other federal agency IT modernization programs.\n\nFamiliarity with Agile/Scrum delivery methodologies in a government contracting context.\n\nClearance Requirement:\nUS Citizen or Lawful Permanent Resident (Green Card)\n\nWilling and able to obtain and maintain Public Trust Clearance \n\nMust meet updated ID requirements: If you do not currently meet the ID requirements outlined, you must be willing and able to update your current forms of ID in a timely manner to complete the suitability process successfully. \n\nBenefits\n\nThe CompanyWe believe in generating success collaboratively, enabling long-term mission success, and building trust for the next challenge.
