This role supports the administration, configuration, maintenance, validation, and continuous improvement of recipe-driven manufacturing processes and automation applications.\nThe Automation Engineer II partners with Operations, Quality, Maintenance, Validation, Engineering, and Information Technology teams to ensure automation systems operate reliably, recipes are accurately executed, and business objectives related to safety, quality, compliance, and productivity, and operational excellence are achieved. The role participates in system lifecycle management activities, including upgrades, enhancements, troubleshooting, validation, and change control while supporting site automation strategies and digital transformation initiatives\nKey Responsibilities\nAdminister, configure, maintain, and support recipe management systems and manufacturing automation applications.\nDevelop, modify, test, deploy, and maintain manufacturing recipes in accordance with approved change control processes.\nEnsure recipe accuracy, consistency, and compliance across manufacturing operations.\nSupport recipe version control, security administration, audit trail review, and system governance activities.\nMonitor recipe execution and automation system performance to identify issues and opportunities for continuous improvement.\nInvestigate recipe execution failures, automation deviations, alarms, and system performance issues; implement corrective and preventive actions as required.\nProvide technical support to Manufacturing and other departments for automation, process, and recipe-related issues, including production support, startup activities, troubleshooting, and process investigations.\nSupport the integration of recipe management and automation systems with manufacturing equipment, MES, batch management systems, historians, PLCs, SCADA systems, and other enterprise applications.\nSupport lifecycle management activities for automation systems, including upgrades, enhancements, system maintenance, obsolescence management, and risk mitigation.\nAssist with investigations, Non-Conformances (NCs), Corrective and Preventive Actions (CAPAs), Annual Product Reviews (APRs), and technical assessments related to automation systems and recipe management.\nSupport the creation, review, execution, and maintenance of automation and validation documentation, including Validation Plans, User Requirements Specifications (URS), Functional Design Specifications (FDS), Risk Assessments, Traceability Matrices, Test Scripts, IQ/OQ/PQ Protocols, and Validation Reports.\nParticipate in commissioning, qualification, validation, and startup activities, including Factory Acceptance Testing (FAT), Site Acceptance Testing (SAT), Installation Qualification (IQ), Operational Qualification (OQ), and Performance Qualification (PQ).\nSupport the review, implementation, and execution of automation-related change controls to ensure compliance with FDA, cGMP, data integrity, and company requirements.\nParticipate in system performance reviews and continuous improvement initiatives to enhance automation reliability, recipe accuracy, operational efficiency, and Overall Equipment Effectiveness (OEE).\nTroubleshoot automation and process issues using structured problem-solving methodologies such as Kepner-Tregoe, DMAIC, and Root Cause Analysis.\nCreate, revise, and maintain SOPs, work instructions, and technical documentation related to automation and recipe management systems.\nMaintain required training qualifications and comply with applicable cGMP, safety, and company requirements.\nAdditional Responsibilities\nCollaborate effectively with Manufacturing, Quality, Engineering, Validation, Maintenance, Supply Chain, and Information Technology personnel.\nSupport automation project execution activities, including planning, scheduling, issue tracking, risk management, resource coordination, and status reporting.\nParticipate in project teams and coordinate activities required to achieve project objectives and deliverables.\nAssist in developing and maintaining site automation strategies, technology roadmaps, and system lifecycle plans.\nTrain end users and system owners on recipe management systems, automation applications, and related procedures.\nParticipate in the review and approval of Computer System Validation (CSV), Commissioning, and Qualification documentation.\nSupport internal audits and regulatory inspections as a subject matter resource for assigned automation and recipe management systems.\nExercise sound technical judgment to resolve moderately complex issues affecting manufacturing operations, product quality, compliance, and business performance.\nMaintain proficiency in automation technologies, computerized system validation practices, data integrity requirements, and applicable regulatory standards.\nPerform other related duties as assigned.\nWhat we are looking for\nRequired Qualifications\n\nBachelor’s degree in engineering or related technical field\n2-4 years of hands-on experience in automation roles\nExcellent communication and teamwork skills\nStrong analytical, problem-solving skills and ability to think creatively\nBasic computer knowledge (Microsoft Office software - Excel, PowerPoint, Word)\nDesired Qualifications\nProven track record of successfully delivering projects on time and within budget\nStrong planning, organizational, analytical, and decision-making skills\nAbility to address moderately complex business problems and present recommendations effectively\nLeadership skills to influence peer engineers and collaborate effectively with cross-functional teams\nResults-oriented, quick learner, and motivated to take initiative in tasks\nWhat’s in it for you\nAnnual base salary for new hires in this position ranges:\n$82,025.00 - $115,800.00This takes into account a number of factors including work location, the candidate’s skills, experience, education level & other job-related factors.\nCompetitive Benefit Package*\n\nPaid Company Holidays, Paid Vacation, Volunteer Time & More!\n\nLearning & Development Opportunities\n\nKenvuer Impact Networks\n\nThis list could vary based on location/region\n\n*Note: Total Rewards at Kenvue include salary, bonus (if applicable) and benefits.
