If you're a skilled driver with a passion for people and a commitment to excellence, join our team and become a vital part of your community's daily journey!\n\nCompensation and Schedule\nCompensation: The hourly wage for this position is $30.49 for Class 4 bus operations (light-duty) and $35.88 for Class 2 bus operations (conventional). \nSchedule: Work assignments and available shifts are awarded based on seniority, in accordance with the Collective Agreement.\n\nKnowledge and Experience\nValid Class 1, Class 2, or Class 4 driver's license.\nKnowledge of defensive driving principles and safe vehicle operating practices.\nKnowledge of applicable traffic laws, the Motor Vehicle Act and/or Highway Traffic Act, depending on jurisdiction.\nKnowledge of Hours of Service Regulations and related compliance requirements.\nStrong commitment to passenger safety, customer service, and professionalism.\nAbility to operate transit vehicles safely in varying weather, road, and traffic conditions.\nKnowledge of accessibility requirements and the ability to assist passengers with mobility needs.\nStrong communication and interpersonal skills with the ability to interact respectfully with diverse passengers and community members.\nAbility to remain calm and make sound decisions in emergency or high-pressure situations.\nBasic mechanical aptitude with the ability to identify and report vehicle defects or maintenance concerns.\nAbility to successfully complete a road test, criminal background check, and drug & alcohol screening as a condition of employment.\n\nConsidered an Asset\nA valid Air Brake Q Endorsement.\nPrevious transit, passenger transportation, shuttle, school bus experience. \nFamiliarity with transit vehicles and fare collection equipment.\n\nSkills\nSignificant skills dealing effectively with the public, including demonstrated skills in conflict resolution, problem solving, and sound decision-making in positions providing customer service.\nWillingness to work shifts, including split shifts, weekends, and statutory holidays (transit service operates 7 days per week, 21 hours per day).\nAbility to sit for extended periods of time.\nAbility to maintain focus on repetitive tasks.\nAbility to work in a variety of weather and traffic conditions.\nAbility to make instantaneous decisions under pressure to ensure safe vehicle operation.\nA safety and compliance mindset.\nStrong focus on customer service. \nAbility to work independently with minimal supervision.\n\nKey Accountabilities\nSafe Vehicle Operation and Maintenance\nOperate various types of transit vehicles on established routes following a published schedule.\nObserve all traffic laws and safety rules while adhering to time schedules.\nPerform pre-trip, en-route, and post-trip inspections to ensure vehicle safety.\nEvaluate road conditions and mechanical issues, making necessary adjustments or arranging for assistance.\nCarry out emergency and accident procedures as required.\nPassenger Experience and Communication\nTransport customers throughout the local region in accordance with company policies and procedures.\nCourteously and professionally interact with customers, including assisting with mobility devices, answering inquiries, and making announcements.\nIssue transfers, collect fares, and ensure valid passes are presented.\nCommunicate effectively with the public, dispatchers, and co-workers.\nDe-escalate conflicts and resolve passenger concerns in a professional manner.\nReporting and Compliance\nComplete vehicle, operational, and incident reports accurately and in a timely manner.\nReport delays, mechanical issues, incidents, and accidents as required.\nMaintain accurate daily logbooks and records.\nAdhere to all applicable legislation, including the Motor Vehicle/Highway Traffic Act and Hours of Service Regulations.\nContinuously learn and adapt to new procedures, vehicle models, and technology.\nAbout Keolis: Keolis Canada is a leader in public transportation, with over 2,000 employees dedicated to providing safe, reliable, and sustainable multimodal mobility solutions across the country.
