A career with Kerry offers you an opportunity to shape the future of food while providing you opportunities to explore and grow in a truly global environment.\nAbout the role\nLocation : Nairobi, Kenya\nReporting to : EHS Lead-Greater Africa\nCarry out the day-to-day operations within the EHS Department and contribute to the application of effective EHS management.\nResponsible and accountable for assisting management with:\nImplementing, managing and continuously improving EHS procedures and work practices at Kerry Greater Africa manufacturing sites.\nCompliance with the EHS requirements of Kerry, local legislation and external certifications at Kerry Greater Africa manufacturing sites.\nSupport implementation of Office Safety programs at Kerry offices in Greater Africa Region.\nKey responsibilities\nEnsure understanding of and compliance to EHS procedures and practices by staff and contractors.\nAdminister and maintain compliance with all Kerry LIFE rules.\nWork with personnel at all levels in the organization to drive safety culture and encourage safe working practices.\nEnsure compliance with all Kerry policies and procedures and contribute to the development and review thereof.\nImplementation and maintenance of the requirements of Kerry EHS systems, ISO 14001 and ISO 45001.\nFacilitate and participate in internal audits and Kerry EHS audits.\nImplement corrective and preventative actions to close out audit findings.\nTrain employees and contractors on requirements of the Kerry EHS systems, promoting incident prevention for the benefit of employees, contractors and visitors.\nUpdate EHS documentation in the integrated EHS management system.\nMonitor and measure compliance to EHS objectives and targets.\nMonitor and measure environmental performance in accordance with Municipal/county requirements and Sustainability KPI’s.\nMonitor, measure, compile and report EHS statistics within Kerry and as required by local and national legislation.\nSupport in the execution of emergency preparedness drills.\nMaintain relevant EHS logs and documentation and Perform Incident Investigations and root cause analysis.\nTo advise and monitor site risk assessments.\nProactively identify potential hazards, unsafe conditions and at-risk behaviours.\nCommunicate EHS objectives and targets and performance to all employees and contractors on site.\nPromote EHS awareness on the site.\nCoach EHS Representatives and ensure that their duties are completed timely.\nEnsure compliance to EHS procedures and work instructions during maintenance, building, project work with employees and contractors.\nAssist in the development and presentation of relevant EHS training, including EHS Induction.\nPromote the effective use of PPE’s.\nPro-actively ensure the close-out of EHS-related maintenance tasks in conjunction with the engineering team.\nCompletion of monthly Kerry EHS reports.\nAssist in compliance reviews, general risk assessments and other safety assessments to support EHS management.\nEnsure compliance with applicable EHS laws and regulations.\nFactory-Specific Responsibilities (but not limited to):\nWalk the operations floor on a daily basis to establish EHS presence and provide support.\nCo-ordinate and document all EHS meetings (EHS Committee, incident investigation, PPE, contractor, third party auditing or other).\nUpdate, implement, and manage EHS Programs, Policies and Procedures, assist in report preparation and data gathering.\nPerform facility EHS Inspections.\nEvaluate PPE and ensure proper use and maintenance of PPE’s.\nEnsure compliance to Regulatory and Kerry requirements.\nAssist in emergency response, emergency preparedness review, planning and training.\nPerform additional duties as assigned by EHS Lead.\nSupport in implementing current and future Kerry EHS programs, including;\nBOS (Behavior Observation System).\nSeRRA (Self-Regulated Risk Assessment).\nSmall Acts Matter (SAM).\nQualifications and skills\nDegree in Occupational Health & Safety, Engineering, Science or Equivalent.\nAt least 3 to 5years’ experience working in EHS, preferably in a Food Manufacturing plant.\nNEBOSH/IOSH Certification is an added advantage.\nWorking knowledge of the requirements of the OHS Act. National Environmental Management Act.\nExperience in ISO 14001 Systems and ISO 45001 implementation and internal audit.\nExperience in performing risk assessments and Root Cause Analysis.\nBeware of scams online or from individuals claiming to represent us.
