The role ensures that desired business and legal terms and conditions are accurately captured in each agreement and that contracts appropriately reflect Key’s risk tolerances. This position works closely with internal risk partners and internal clients to ensure business and regulatory requirements are met and provides legal counsel primarily to procurement strategists.\nSuccess Criteria:\nSuccess in this role includes the ability to effectively negotiate a high volume of agreements and efficiently manage the standard procurement agreement process. The Procurement Legal Advisor works collaboratively with KeyCorp risk groups and lines of business to assess business needs and associated risks and ensures that all procurement contracts comply with applicable laws and regulations.\nEssential Functions:\nAct as knowledgeable business partner by providing competent and effective legal advice and support.\nProvide procurement legal contract support for assigned clients with focus on obtaining business objectives while adequately addressing associated risks\nPerform legal research involving procurement issues\nProvide prompt legal counsel primarily to associate procurement strategists\nDesired Outcome:\nClient requests receive timely and collegial responses providing final resolution or an acceptable date for completion/delivery.\nWorkload for diverse client base, including diverse requests, is organized and prioritized in accordance with reasonable delivery dates.\nClients’ procurement needs are met to allow Key to maintain a competitive advantage and procurement savings targets of the organization.\nEffectively draft and negotiate contracts\nParticipate in the contract negotiation process\nIdentify and perform critical analysis of significant legal issues involving the procurement of goods and/or services\nUtilize high-quality oral and written communication skills\nWork with other legal professionals, including those in the Key Law Group and outside counsel\nDesired Outcome:\nContracts are completed within a reasonable time and adequately address the business needs while protecting Key’s interests.\nIdentify and effectively manage risk\nIdentify risk issues and integrate the appropriate language into the agreement to mitigate such risk\nCollaborate with compliance and risk groups to identify, assess, and mitigate risk\nElevate critical risk issues to line of business senior management as appropriate\nKeep informed of latest legal and regulatory trends.\nDesired Outcome:\nSound legal judgment resulting in reasonable risk-appropriate decisions.\nProcurement Advisor viewed as significant participant in the procurement risk assessment process by manager, senior management, risk officers, and clients.\nDevelop effective and collaborative relationships\nDevelop and maintain strong collaborative and collegial relationships with clients, procurement and law group colleagues\nDevelop and maintain collaborative and collegial relationships with outside attorneys and industry representatives\nTreat co-workers, clients, and external contacts with professionalism and respect\nParticipate in project teams and support other lines of business as requested\nDesired Outcome:\nSupport partners, clients and co-workers and be known as being an approachable, responsive, and knowledgeable resource.\nGain respect of co-workers, clients, senior management, and external contacts.\nEducation\nBachelor’s Degree, and Juris Doctorate\nLicense to practice law and in good standing\n Work Experience\n3+ years of relevant experience\nProficient in researching, drafting, and negotiating legal agreements\nGood written and communication skills\nAbility to work independently\nAbility to understand and work within the business, compliance, and regulatory environment associated with procurement and the financial services industry\nAbility to develop technical, legal, and business knowledge in relevant areas, and willingness to develop cross-functional knowledge\nAbility to organize information, recommend solutions, communicate, and collaborate with legal and business professionals\nKnowledge of financial services industry and regulatory environment (preferred)\nKnowledge of commercial law and procurement/supply chain processes (preferred)\nAbility to work in a fast paced environment (preferred)\nAttendance at continuing legal education seminars and professional forums that provide timely information on developments in the industry (preferred)\nEssential Competencies and Skills:\nAccountability: Keeps promises and honors commitments; Placement within the pay range may differ based upon various factors, including but not limited to skills, experience and geographic location.
