You'll work across modern web applications, cloud-based microservices, and enterprise platforms that power KeyBank's online and mobile banking experiences.\nThis is an opportunity to influence architecture, mentor engineers, and build highly available systems at scale while remaining actively involved in coding and delivery.\nWhat You'll Do\nLead Full-Stack Software Development\nDesign, develop, and deliver scalable full-stack solutions across web, API, and microservice architectures. \nBuild modern user experiences using Angular and TypeScript. \nDevelop and maintain cloud-native services using Java and Spring Boot. \nPartner with Product, UX, and Architecture teams to translate business requirements into technical solutions. \nDefine API standards and integration patterns using OpenAPI/Swagger. \nDrive Cloud & DevOps Excellence\nDeploy and support applications running in Google Cloud Platform (GCP) and Kubernetes (GKE). \nBuild and enhance CI/CD pipelines to accelerate software delivery while maintaining quality and security. \nImplement deployment strategies that minimize downtime and support high availability. \nChampion infrastructure automation, monitoring, and operational excellence. \nBuild Resilient, Scalable Systems\nDesign solutions that emphasize performance, reliability, and fault tolerance. \nLeverage technologies such as Redis and Kafka to support high-volume, distributed workloads. \nModernize integrations with enterprise systems and core banking platforms. \nPromote observability and proactive issue detection. \nProvide Technical Leadership\nLead architectural discussions and technical design reviews. \nMentor engineers through coaching, code reviews, and knowledge sharing. \nEstablish engineering standards, reusable frameworks, and development best practices. \nEvaluate and adopt emerging technologies, including AI-assisted development tools. \nSupport Secure Software Delivery\nPartner with security teams to address vulnerabilities and maintain compliance standards. \nImplement modern authentication and authorization patterns. \nEnsure applications adhere to enterprise security, privacy, and regulatory requirements. \nRequired Qualifications\nExperience\nBachelor's degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, Information Systems, or related field (or equivalent experience). \n7+ years of professional software engineering experience. \n3+ years in a senior engineer, technical lead, or architecture-focused role. \nFull Stack Development\nStrong hands-on experience with: \nJava (17+ preferred) \nSpring Boot and Spring ecosystem \nREST API development and microservices \nAngular and TypeScript \nExperience building scalable, enterprise-grade web applications and distributed systems. \nStrong understanding of software design patterns, testing, and code quality practices. \nCloud & DevOps\nExperience with containerized applications using Docker and Kubernetes. \nExperience deploying and supporting solutions in a public cloud environment (GCP preferred). \nExperience creating and maintaining CI/CD pipelines. \nStrong understanding of source control and collaborative development practices using Git. \nArchitecture & Leadership\nExperience designing scalable, resilient applications. \nAbility to lead technical discussions and influence architectural direction. \nStrong communication and mentoring skills. \nExperience working in Agile product development environments. \nAI-Assisted Engineering\nExperience using modern AI developer tools such as GitHub Copilot, Gemini, Cursor, Claude Code, or similar solutions. \nAbility to evaluate, validate, and secure AI-generated code. \nPreferred Qualifications\nExperience with any of the following is a plus:\nGoogle Cloud Platform (GCP) \nRedis and Kafka \nSpring Cloud \nKubernetes platform engineering \nMicro-frontend architectures \nFinancial services or regulated-industry environments \nOAuth 2.0, OpenID Connect (OIDC), Passkeys, FIDO2, or modern identity platforms \nFlutter mobile development \nGitLab CI/CD \nAI agents, agentic workflows, MCP integrations, LangGraph, AutoGen, or similar frameworks \nWhat Success Looks Like\nThe ideal candidate is:\nA hands-on technical leader who enjoys building software. \nComfortable moving between architecture discussions and coding implementation. \nPassionate about cloud-native engineering and modern DevOps practices. \nAble to mentor others and elevate engineering standards across teams. \nExcited about leveraging AI and automation to improve developer productivity. \nThis position is NOT eligible for employment visa sponsorship for non-U.S. citizens.\nCOMPENSATION AND BENEFITS\nThis position is eligible to earn a base salary in the range of $96,000.00 - $181,000.00 annually. Placement within the pay range may differ based upon various factors, including but not limited to skills, experience and geographic location.
