Our collaborative and inclusive culture encourages curiosity, continuous learning, and bold thinking. Beyond our own walls, we use our corporate social responsibility framework to support our communities, inspire the next generation of engineers, and promote environmental sustainability.\nThis position is based at Keysight’s Colorado Springs location, just two miles from the iconic Garden of the Gods and at the base of Pikes Peak - America’s Mountain. Colorado Springs is also home to the U.S. Olympic & Paralympic Training Center and the U.S. Air Force Academy. With year-round opportunities for hiking, mountain biking, camping, fishing, rafting, skiing, snowboarding, golfing, and exploring state and national parks, it is an ideal location for anyone who enjoys combining innovative work with an active lifestyle.\nAbout the Job\nAs an NPI Test Engineer, you will help turn innovative product designs into solutions that can be built, tested, and successfully launched into production.\nNew Product Introduction Engineering sits at the intersection of Product R&D and Production Manufacturing. We do not design the new product itself, we engineer how that product will be validated, tested, and manufactured reliably at scale. This gives you the opportunity to work with new technology while seeing its full journey from early prototypes to a successful production launch.\nIn this role, you will develop automated software tests for Keysight’s next generation of electronic test-and-measurement products. Your work will extend beyond software development. You will interact directly with prototypes, instrumentation, and electrical hardware to understand what needs to be measured, create effective test solutions, and troubleshoot issues across software and hardware.\nYou will package and transfer test solutions to our manufacturing operation, partnering with global manufacturing, engineering, and marketing teams throughout the product-development process. You will also help strengthen the processes and tools that support continuous software development, deployment, and long-term test-system reliability.\nThis is an opportunity to combine software development with hands-on electrical engineering and make a visible contribution to the launch of new Keysight products.\nAbout the Team\nOur NPI Engineering team brings together software, electrical, and manufacturing expertise to solve complex, hands-on technical challenges. You will be part of a multidisciplinary product-development team that works closely with R&D and global production partners to design, develop, validate, and test Keysight’s real-time oscilloscopes, probes, accessories, and other advanced electronic measurement products.\nThe work is collaborative and varied. One day you may be developing automated test software; the next, you may be working in the lab with a prototype, analyzing an unexpected measurement, or partnering with manufacturing engineers to prepare a test solution for production. Along the way, you will deepen your knowledge of electrical measurements, instrumentation, software development, and product manufacturing, and can become a measurement expert yourself.\nBecause this role involves hands-on work with prototypes and instrumentation in our NPI lab, it is based onsite in Colorado Springs. We recognize that collaboration with global teams sometimes requires evening meetings, and we support flexible work schedules that help employees balance those demands.\nWe foster an open environment where innovation, knowledge sharing, and new ideas can thrive. Our engineers support one another, and we actively invest in mentoring, professional development, and opportunities for continued growth. Keysight also offers educational assistance, employee networking groups, fitness programs, paid time off for volunteerism, and complimentary onsite electric-vehicle charging.\nYou will join a supportive team of dedicated engineers who want you to learn, contribute, and succeed while helping bring new products and technologies to market.\nResponsibilities\nThis role includes a combination of software development, hands-on test engineering, and manufacturing support. Depending on the needs of each new product introduction, your responsibilities may include:\nPartner with product design engineers to understand how the hardware operates and define the automated tests, measurements, and algorithms required for manufacturing test.\nDesign and develop automated tests that characterize hardware performance while incorporating Design for Manufacturing (DFM) considerations.\nDevelop software that controls test-rack instrumentation, such as electrical sources and measurement equipment, as well as the device under test (DUT), such as an oscilloscope.\nPerform hands-on test-rack connections, configurations, and DUT changes needed to develop and execute automated tests.\nTroubleshoot issues across the complete test system, including test-rack instrumentation, DUT hardware and product software, test software, connections, and supporting infrastructure.\nReview and validate product datasheet specifications and help translate those requirements into appropriate manufacturing test limits.\nPartner with production engineers to package, validate, and transfer automated tests and their supporting software architecture to the production line.\nCreate and maintain technical documentation, including test-support materials, troubleshooting guides, training documentation, and other resources needed to support production.\nCollaborate with cross-regional engineering teams to develop, maintain, and enhance shared software architecture and packages that support successful NPI automated-test development and transfer.\nHelp implement and maintain disciplined software-development practices, including unit-test development, regular unit testing, continuous integration and continuous deployment (CI/CD), code review, and controlled codebase management.\nContinuously improve and expand software-development and test-automation practices to increase reliability, maintainability, efficiency, and ease of deployment.\nRespond to time-sensitive NPI and manufacturing-line needs by applying established Git branching, workflow, version-control, and software-release strategies to deploy software packages safely and efficiently.\nDevelop test-software release plans and schedules that align with broader product-development, NPI, and manufacturing-transfer milestones.\nQualifications\nBachelor’s degree in Computer Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Software Engineering, Computer Science, or a related field, with an academic or professional background that combines software development with electrical or hardware engineering.\nTypically, a minimum of 4-5 years of relevant experience in software development, test engineering, hardware test automation, or a related engineering discipline.\nExperience developing and deploying software that interacts with physical hardware, along with an interest in software architecture, development, and deployment processes.\nExperience with software development and source-control tools, such as Git or a comparable version-control system.\nExperience developing software in C#, C++, Python, or another object-oriented programming language.\nExperience working with Microsoft Visual Studio or a comparable integrated development environment.\nUnderstanding of statistical-analysis concepts and their application to test data or hardware-performance evaluation.\nAbility and technical aptitude to develop automated tests that evaluate hardware performance in a product-development environment.\nAbility to clearly and concisely explain test strategies, methodologies, results, and technical decisions.\nAbility to teach, guide, and support partner teams that use or maintain developed test solutions.\nKnowledge of analog and digital circuit analysis and design principles.\nUnderstanding of analog and digital measurement techniques.\nExperience using electronic test and measurement equipment. Experience with oscilloscopes and probes is especially relevant to this role.\nInterest in collaborating with cross-functional and cross-regional teams to achieve shared product development and manufacturing objectives.\nAbility to work effectively in a fast-paced, results-oriented engineering environment.\nSelf-motivation and the ability to translate high-level objectives into actionable project plans and execute them with limited supervision.\nDemonstrated analytical and technical problem-solving skills, including the ability to identify, prioritize, and resolve complex issues.\nStrong written and verbal communication skills, including the ability to communicate technical issues effectively to different audiences.\nDemonstrated ability to contribute successfully within cross-functional teams.\nFlexibility and comfort working through ambiguity, changing requirements, and evolving project priorities.\nAbility to organize work, manage competing priorities, and deliver results under schedule pressure.\nStrong initiative, attention to detail, and organizational skills.\nCollaborative approach and a constructive, team-oriented attitude.\nDesired Qualifications\nMaster’s degree in Computer Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Software Engineering, Computer Science, or a related field.\nManufacturing-test development experience, ideally involving OpenTAP and C#.\nExperience using Git branching, workflow, and release-management practices in a collaborative software-development environment.\nExperience developing or maintaining automated tests using OpenTAP.\nExperience with Atlassian tools such as Jira, Bitbucket, and Confluence.\nExperience developing, transferring, deploying, or supporting test solutions within a manufacturing environment.\nCareers Privacy Statement\nKeysight is an Equal Opportunity Employer\nKeysight Technologies Inc. is an equal opportunity employer.
