Your work will combine photonics, hands-on process engineering and manufacturing automation, taking key optical building blocks from early prototypes through new product introduction (NPI) to mature production.\nThis role offers the opportunity to solve practical engineering challenges and directly influence how advanced photonic products are built, tested and manufactured.\nResponsibilities\nDevelop optical alignment and packaging processes: Define, design and implement reliable manufacturing processes for photonic and electro-optical components and assemblies.\n\nTake new products from prototype to production: Develop manufacturing strategies and establish processes that support successful new product introduction and production maturity.\n\nDrive design for manufacturability: Define and implement goals for manufacturability, serviceability and quality throughout product development and ongoing production.\n\nAutomate manufacturing and testing: Develop tooling and software solutions to improve process automation, consistency and efficiency.\n\nOptimize production workflows: Maintain and improve manufacturing processes to support reliable product performance and production quality.\n\nInvestigate manufacturing failures: Analyze process performance and failure modes, identify underlying causes and implement improvements.\n\nDevelop optical test solutions: Contribute to the design, implementation and debugging of optical test and measurement processes.\n\nCollaborate across teams: Work with engineering and manufacturing colleagues to meet product development milestones and manufacturing requirements.\n\nQualifications\nEducation\nMaster’s degree or PhD in Electrical Engineering, with a focus on optical communications, Physics or a closely related discipline.\n\nRelevant experience\nAt least 3 years of relevant professional experience in one or more of the following areas: optical packaging, optical alignment, photonic integrated circuit (PIC) packaging, free-space optics or hybrid manufacturing.\n\nAdvanced knowledge and practical experience in electro-optical measurement and hybrid manufacturing processes.\n\nTechnical knowledge\nA solid academic foundation in photonics, quantum electronics, optical telecommunications and hardware concepts.\n\nUnderstanding of manufacturing
