We believe that when people feel a sense of belonging, they can be more creative, innovative, and thrive at all points in their careers.\nThe Usability Engineering Intern will support the investigation, evaluation, and evolution of a next-generation user interface for a targeted portfolio of Keysight products.\nThis role will focus on understanding user workflows, identifying usability opportunities, and validating design concepts through research and testing.\nThe intern will collaborate with engineering, product management, and UX professionals to help ensure the interface delivers an intuitive, efficient, and consistent user experience.\nIn addition to evaluating the new UI direction, the intern may assess design systems, prototyping platforms, and usability testing toolsets that can support ongoing annual refreshes of the user experience while maintaining consistency, quality, and development efficiency.\nThis position offers hands-on experience in user-centered design, usability engineering, and UX strategy within a technically sophisticated product environment.\nResponsibilities\nPotential Activities\nConduct user research to understand target user needs, workflows, pain points, and expectations.\nEvaluate proposed UI concepts against established usability and human factors principles.\nAssist in planning and executing usability studies, interviews, surveys, and prototype evaluations.\nAnalyze research findings and present recommendations to project stakeholders.\nCreate wireframes, mockups, workflows, and prototype concepts to communicate design ideas.\nBenchmark competitor and industry solutions to identify best practices and emerging trends.\nInvestigate design systems, component libraries, prototyping platforms, and UX toolsets that can improve scalability and support annual UI updates.\nHelp define reusable interaction patterns, usability guidelines, and design standards for the target product family.\nCollaborate with cross-functional teams to incorporate usability feedback into design and development decisions.\nQualifications\nRequired\nCurrently pursuing a Master's degree in Human Factors, Human-Computer Interaction (HCI), User Experience Design, Psychology, or a related field.\nStrong interest in usability, user-centered design, and user research methodologies.\nFamiliarity with UX design and prototyping tools such as Figma, Adobe XD, Sketch, or similar platforms.\nAbility to analyze user feedback and translate findings into actionable recommendations.\nStrong written and verbal communication skills.\nAbility to work independently while collaborating effectively within cross-functional teams.\nPreferred\nExperience conducting usability studies, interviews, surveys, or observational research.\nFamiliarity with human factors principles, UX design systems, accessibility guidelines, or interaction design.\nExperience creating wireframes, mockups, or interactive prototypes.\nUnderstanding of software development processes and web-based user interfaces.\nInterest in scalable design systems, component libraries, AI-assisted design tools, and continuous UX improvement practices.\nExperience presenting research findings to technical and non-technical audiences\nThis internship will begin in or around June 2027.\nThe level of role will be based on suitable experience, education and skills;
