Our ~16,800 employees create world-class solutions in communications, 5G, automotive, energy, quantum, aerospace, defense, and semiconductor markets for customers in over 100 countries. Learn more about what we do.\nOur award-winning culture embraces a bold vision of where technology can take us and a passion for tackling challenging problems with industry-first solutions. We believe that when people feel a sense of belonging, they can be more creative, innovative, and thrive at all points in their careers.\nResponsibilities\nAbout the Role\nWe are looking for a Software Development Engineer to design and build the next generation electromagnetic (EM) simulation, Thermal, Spice, Spectre and RF/microwave design automation tools and build & interfaces to & fro for for semiconductor foundries and customers. You will work on the software that powers full-wave EM solvers, Thermal simulation engines, Spice & Spectre simulators, layout-driven extraction flows, and the automation pipelines that turn foundry technology data (ITF/LTD, layermaps, tech files) and physical layout (GDS) into accurate S-parameter models.\nThis role sits at the intersection of computational electromagnetics, numerical methods, and large-scale software engineering. You will collaborate with EM research scientists, application engineers, and product managers to deliver robust, high-performance features used by RF, mmWave, IC design teams worldwide.\nKey Responsibilities\nDevelop and maintain tooling and utilities (parsers, comparators, validators) for technology stackups and simulation inputs to ensure correctness and reproducibility. \nBuild automation and data-processing pipelines: technology file conversion (iRCX/ITF → LTD), layout/GDS import, port/pin placement, simulation setup, and S-parameter (SnP) export. \nDevelop automated tools and scripts for PDKs, create tests, run, maintain, and verify regressions. Review & verify code checked into Keysight EDA ADS (Advanced Design System) software. \nParticipate in design reviews, code reviews, testing, and debugging; write clean, well tested, maintainable code. \nCollaborate with EM, Thermal, Circuit Simulation squad to translate numerical methods and prototypes into production-quality, cross-platform (Windows/Linux) software. \nLeverage AI-powered development tools, coding assistants, and autonomous agents to accelerate design, development, testing, debugging, and documentation. \nQualifications\nQualification: B.E./M.E./Ph.D. in Computer Science, Electrical/Electronic Engineering, or a related field\nRequired Skills\nStrong programming skills in C++ (Modern C++ preferred) and/or Python, with solid understanding of data structures, algorithms, and software design principles. \nGood understanding of Object-Oriented Design, Design Patterns, and Software Engineering principles. \nSolid foundation in numerical methods and linear algebra (matrix solvers, sparse systems, iterative methods, floating-point numerics). \nExperience developing on Linux and/or Windows, with familiarity in build systems (CMake), version control (Git), and CI/CD workflows. \nStrong problem-solving, debugging, and analytical skills. \nUnderstanding of software security, testing, and code quality practices. \nKnowledge & insight of TSMC iRCX file format. \nWorking knowledge of AES and other encryption method and implementations. \nBasic understanding of high frequency electronic design, its process (PCB/PKG/RFIC/MMIC) and key components. \nUnderstanding electromagnetic / RF / microwave theory (Maxwell's equations, transmission lines, S-parameters, antenna parameters, signal & power integrity). \nPreferred Skills\nFamiliarity with electromagnetic simulation tools \nKnowledge of computational electromagnetics (FEM, MoM, FDTD, integral-equation methods) or other physics-based simulation techniques. \nFamiliarity with EDA tools and flows (e.g., ADS, RFPro, EMPro, Momentum, HFSS, Heatwave, IcePak, Thermal simulators (CAE/ EDA), Cadence, or similar) and technology data formats (GDS, ITF, LTD, layermap, tech files, Touchstone/SnP). \nExperience building automation frameworks, scripting APIs, or plugin architectures for simulation tools. \nExperience using AI-assisted development tools (e.g., GitHub Copilot, ChatGPT, Claude, Cursor) and understanding of AI/LLM concepts, prompt engineering, and agentic workflows. \nContributions to open-source scientific/numerical software. \nSelection Process\nHackerRank Assessment (C++ & Python) \nTechnical Coding and Design Interviews \nHiring Manager Interview\nPreferred: Candidates with a strong software development background in EDA / CAD CAE / electromagnetic simulation, excellent problem-solving skills, and a passion for building high-quality products.\nCareers Privacy Statement ***Keysight is an Equal Opportunity Employer.***\nAbout the Role\nWe are looking for a Software Development Engineer to design and build the next generation electromagnetic (EM) simulation, Thermal, Spice, Spectre and RF/microwave design automation tools and build & interfaces to & fro for for semiconductor foundries and customers.
