Keystone is a premier economics, technology, and strategy consulting firm built to help companies lead through transformation. As breakthrough innovations reshape industries, redefine competition and change our society, complex and highly competitive ecosystems emerge. Keystone advises technology leaders, Fortune 100 companies, their legal counsel, and governments on business, economic, litigation, and regulatory strategy in relation to these innovations and competitive eco-systems. We operate globally from offices in New York City, Boston, San Francisco, Seattle, London, Dubai, and Washington, D.C.

About the Role

As a Summer Associate or Summer Consultant, you will work alongside Keystone teams on engagements spanning economics, strategy, and technology. You will contribute to analytical workstreams, conduct research, and help translate complex findings into clear insights for high-stakes business, litigation, and regulatory matters.

Your education and experience may align most closely with one of our practice areas, including Finance, Economics, Tax and Securities or Antitrust & Competition. Because Keystone teams are interdisciplinary, you will have opportunities to work across a range of problems, industries, and practice areas.

Interns aligned with Finance, Economics, Tax and Securities may support financial valuation and market-based analyses in litigation, transaction, or strategy contexts. Interns aligned with Antitrust & Competition may apply economic theory, econometrics, and competition analysis to regulatory and litigation matters.

Throughout the summer, you will receive mentorship and feedback while gaining direct exposure to the work performed by our full-time Associates and Consultants.

Key Responsibilities

Data Analysis

  • Support analytical workstreams involving data cleaning, exploratory analysis, model implementation, and validation.
  • Apply quantitative methods using tools such as Python, R, or Stata to analyze large and complex datasets.
  • Build and test models to identify trends, quantify impacts, and evaluate strategic, economic, or regulatory questions.
  • Review analytical outputs for accuracy and clearly document your methodology and assumptions.

Research

  • Conduct structured research across economic, industry, policy, and technology topics.
  • Review academic literature, public filings, policy documents, and technical materials.
  • Synthesize qualitative and quantitative information to support hypotheses, analyses, and case strategy.
  • Develop a clear understanding of unfamiliar industries and complex business questions.

Written and Verbal Communication

  • Translate analytical findings into clear, well-structured narratives for internal and client-facing materials.
  • Draft sections of memos, reports, and presentations explaining methodologies, results, and implications.
  • Create tables, charts, and figures that communicate complex ideas succinctly.
  • Present findings to project teams and incorporate feedback into your work.

Team Collaboration

  • Collaborate with colleagues from economics, strategy, technology, and data-science backgrounds.
  • Manage assigned responsibilities and communicate progress, questions, and potential challenges proactively.
  • Adapt quickly to new problem types, industries, and project needs.
  • Contribute to a supportive, intellectually curious, and inclusive team environment.

What You’ll Bring

Education and Experience

  • Currently pursuing a bachelor’s or master’s degree in Economics, Econometrics, Finance, Mathematics, Statistics, Analytics, Data Science, Computer Science, or a closely related field.
  • Strong academic performance and evidence of intellectual curiosity.
  • Previous experience in consulting, analytics, research, finance, policy, or technology is a plus.
  • Demonstrated academic, extracurricular, or leadership achievement.

Analytical Skills

  • Strong quantitative and problem-solving skills.
  • Experience with Python, R, Stata, or similar analytical tools.
  • Comfort working with data and translating analysis into practical insights.
  • Strong business judgment and interest in solving complex, real-world problems.

Communication and Mindset

  • Clear, structured written and verbal communication skills.
  • Ability to learn quickly and contribute in a fast-paced, collaborative environment.
  • Coachable, growth-oriented, and receptive to feedback.
  • Strong attention to detail and commitment to producing high-quality work.
  • Interest in economic, litigation, technology, or strategy consulting and specifically in Keystone’s work.

The Summer Associate or Summer Consultant designation will be determined based on the candidate’s education, prior experience, and qualifications.

This posting is an interest pool rather than an application for a specific opening. After your information is reviewed, selected candidates may be invited to apply for an available Summer Associate or Summer Consultant position.

Salary Range $7,000  - $12,500
