Ki

Ki is a London insurance company launched in 2020 as the first fully algorithmic syndicate at Lloyd's. Brokers place follow capacity through a digital platform that quotes automatically rather than through underwriter meetings. The company was created by Brit with backing from Google and university research partners.

Who are we?

Look at the latest headlines and you will see something Ki insures. Think space shuttles, world tours, wind farms, and even footballers’ legs.

Ki’s mission is simple. Digitally disrupt and revolutionise a 335-year-old market. Working with Google and UCL, Ki has created a platform that uses algorithms, machine learning and large language models to give insurance brokers quotes in seconds, rather than days.

Ki is proudly the biggest global algorithmic insurance carrier. It is the fastest growing syndicate in the Lloyd's of London market, and the first ever to make $100m in profit in 3 years.

Ki’s teams have varied backgrounds and work together in an agile, cross-functional way to build the very best experience for its customers. Ki has big ambitions but needs more excellent minds to challenge the status-quo and help it reach new horizons.

Where you come in?

As our new Financial Accountant, you'll play a vital role in supporting the delivery of accurate, timely, and controlled external financial reporting across our legal entities and our consolidated group. You'll own key aspects of our monthly, quarterly, and annual reporting cycle, including statutory financial statements, group reporting, and ledger governance.

Working closely with teams across Finance, Actuarial, Risk, regulatory reporting, and our external partners, you'll share your technical accounting expertise and help ensure we're always meeting applicable accounting and regulatory requirements. We're passionate about innovation, so you'll also drive the continuous improvement of our financial reporting processes, controls, and automation initiatives to make things more efficient and insightful. As a subject matter expert, you'll empower the business to make great decisions through high-quality financial information and analysis.

What you will be doing:

  • Deliver accurate and timely financial reporting in accordance with agreed monthly, quarterly and annual close timetables.
  • Manage and maintain effective consolidation processes and associated controls, ensuring consistency, accuracy and compliance across all reporting activities.

  • Collaborate with Finance teams including FP&A, Financial Operations, External Reporting and Group stakeholders to support reporting requirements and business objectives.
  • Partner with wider business functions including Actuarial and Risk to ensure accurate financial information and support the preparation of management and board reporting where required.
  • Provide technical accounting guidance and support across the business, maintaining knowledge of relevant accounting and regulatory developments.
  • Act as a key contact for external auditors, preparing supporting schedules, reconciliations and documentation to facilitate efficient audit delivery.
  • Build effective relationships with third-party administrators and internal stakeholders to ensure the timely and accurate receipt of financial information.
  • Identify opportunities to improve, streamline and automate reporting processes, controls and financial data management activities.
  • Maintain and enhance procedural documentation for areas of responsibility to support a strong controls environment and knowledge sharing.

Requirements

  • Qualified Accountant (ACA, ACCA, CA or equivalent).
  • Strong technical accounting knowledge with practical experience of applying IFRS and UK GAAP reporting requirements.
  • Knowledge of IFRS 17 and insurance accounting principles would be advantageous.
  • Understanding of regulatory reporting frameworks, including Solvency II and financial reporting controls.
  • Knowledge of commercial insurance industry practices, products and reporting requirements.
  • Experience working with financial reporting and ledger systems, preferably including Great Plains, Power Pivot and Power Query.
  • Advanced Excel and financial data analysis skills.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with excellent attention to detail.
  • Ability to interpret complex financial information and communicate insights clearly to a range of stakeholders.
