This role leads component selection, qualification, standardization, lifecycle management, and alternate-source development to improve product reliability, regulatory compliance, cost, and supply continuity.\n\nThe Component Engineer partners with Product Development, Sustaining Engineering, Supply Chain, Manufacturing, Quality, and Compliance to reduce component-related technical and business risk.\n\nKey Responsibilities\nComponent Strategy and Governance\nOwn and maintain the approved component portfolio, engineering standards, and component records.\nEstablish preferred-component selection and qualification requirements.\nDrive component standardization, reuse, and rationalization across product platforms.\nProvide technical authority for component selection, derating, reliability, manufacturability, and substitution.\n\nQualification and Reliability\nEvaluate and qualify electronic, electromechanical, sensing, and RF components.\nDevelop component qualification plans, test requirements, and acceptance criteria.\nAssess component reliability, technology readiness, and suitability for intended applications.\nInvestigate component-related failures and support root-cause and corrective-action activities.\n\nLifecycle and Supply Risk Management\nMonitor component availability, lifecycle status, obsolescence, lead times, and single-source exposure.\nDevelop risk assessments and mitigation plans for new and existing products.\nLead technical qualification of alternate and replacement components.\nCoordinate engineering changes resulting from component substitutions and supplier changes.\nPartner with Supply Chain and Procurement to improve supply continuity.\n\nProduct Development and Regulatory Support\nRecommend approved components for new designs and participate in design reviews.\nAssess component feasibility during technology-readiness and project-initiation activities.\nEnsure components satisfy applicable safety, environmental, and regulatory requirements.\nMaintain component traceability, qualification evidence, and compliance records.\nSupport compliance testing, agency submissions, and field-quality investigations.\n\nCost and Value Engineering\nIdentify component cost-reduction, consolidation, and value-engineering opportunities.\nEvaluate proposed cost changes for reliability, safety, compliance, and supply risk.\nIncorporate approved productivity components into the preferred component portfolio.\n\nBasic Qualifications\nBachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering, Electronics Engineering, or related technical discipline.\n2+ years of engineering experience involving electronic components, product design, reliability, or sustaining engineering.\nStrong understanding of electronic components including:\nAnalog and digital semiconductors\nPassive components\nPower management devices\nSensors\nRF components\nElectromechanical devices\nExperience with component qualification and reliability testing.\nExperience working with suppliers and contract manufacturers.\nStrong analytical and problem-solving skills.\nExcellent written and verbal communication skills.\n\nPreferred Qualifications\nExperience with consumer electronics, embedded systems, or life safety products.\nKnowledge of component lifecycle management and obsolescence monitoring.\nFamiliarity with UL, FCC, EMC, RoHS, REACH, and related regulatory requirements.\nExperience qualifying alternate sources and managing supply chain risks.\nUnderstanding of DFMEA, PFMEA, RCA, and reliability methodologies.\nWorking knowledge of PLM, ERP, and engineering database systems.\nExperience supporting global manufacturing operations.\n\nSuccess Metrics\nReduction in single-source component
