This position can be based out of our offices in either Akron, Cincinnati, or Columbus, OH.\nWe use the term \"Practice Builder\" to describe our best client servers - the men and women who exhibit leadership by winning and doing work, managing projects profitably, and mentoring the next generation.\nAs a Practice Builder, you will:\nCraft a bold vision for growth.\nLead business development efforts to win work from new and existing clients.\nProvide high-quality service in a profitable manner.\nContribute to the professional development of staff.\nBenefit from comprehensive support in accounting, administrative, marketing, recruiting, IT, and production.\nHave the autonomy to build and grow your business with the full backing of a firm consistently recognized as one of the best in the industry.\nThis role offers the freedom to lead and grow your business, with the rewards of a performance-based environment (including base salary + bonuses), and the potential to advance to ownership.\nResponsibilities\nDefine and execute the vision for our Bridge practice, ensuring sustainable growth and innovation.\nApply an entrepreneurial spirit to create a vision for growth in the local Bridge practice and beyond.\nDevelop and maintain strong client relationships, positioning our firm as a trusted partner in the Bridge space.\nDrive business development efforts, leveraging industry connections to secure new opportunities and expand market presence.\nSupervise and lead design projects, providing technical expertise and strategic oversight.\nEnsuring quality and timeliness of deliverables, and supervising the execution of work.\nLead and mentor a high-performing team, fostering a collaborative and growth-oriented work environment.\nEnsure project profitability, resource allocation, and seamless transitions of work to qualified staff.\nUphold integrity and sound business principles, driving operational excellence and long-term success.\nQualifications\nMinimum experience of 10 years of progressive bridge design experience.\nRegistered Professional Engineer (P.E.) license in the state for which you are applying.\nHave a BS (MS preferred) from an ABET accredited university in the field of Civil Engineering or Structural Engineering.\nStrong communication, leadership and technical skills necessary to lead a team of Structural Engineers and CADD Technicians in production to meet client goals.\nEvident background in the development of plans, specifications and estimates for design of new, replacement and rehabilitation of highway bridges, including analysis, design calculations, plan production, material specification and quality control, bridge inspection experience is a plus.\nExtensive client contacts and relationships Business development skills, proven ability to win work, and marketing experience including writing proposals, scopes of work, and budgeting for projected work.\nDemonstrated ability to manage projects profitably.\nStrong desire and ability to be engaged with clients solving project problems.\nAbility to manage & mentor staff, and direct resources effectively in a positive manner.\nSeismic design experience is preferred.\nDesign of pile and drilled shaft supported foundation systems a plus.\nExperience utilizing software programs for general structural analysis, as well as, the design of superstructure and substructure components.\nApplicants must be legally authorized to work for Kimley-Horn in the U.S. without employer sponsorship.
