About the Position
We are seeking a Director of Preconstruction to lead the company’s entire preconstruction operation, from initial client engagement through estimating, budgeting, value engineering, and project handoff.
This is a key leadership position overseeing a team of five estimators and partnering closely with clients, project teams, and company leadership. The ideal candidate will bring deep electrical estimating and preconstruction experience along with the leadership skills to develop a high-performing team and drive successful project pursuits.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead the full preconstruction process from client engagement through project award.
- Oversee estimating, budgeting, bid strategy, and value engineering.
- Manage, mentor, and develop a team of five estimators.
- Review estimates for accuracy, completeness, and competitiveness.
- Partner with clients, general contractors, and internal teams throughout the pursuit process.
- Develop and implement effective preconstruction strategies for large commercial projects.
- Identify opportunities for value engineering and cost optimization.
- Support project turnover and ensure a smooth transition from preconstruction to operations.
- Help establish and improve estimating and preconstruction processes.
Requirements
- 10+ years of experience in electrical estimating, preconstruction, or project management.
- Experience with large-scale commercial electrical construction projects.
- Proven leadership experience managing and developing estimating or preconstruction professionals.
- Strong understanding of electrical construction costs, budgets, and project execution.
- Excellent communication, negotiation, and client relationship skills.
- Strong analytical and organizational abilities.
- Accubid proficiency is a plus.
- Ability to manage multiple pursuits and priorities in a deadline-driven environment.
