Reporting to the Finance Director, the Project Accountant will be assigned a selection of construction projects to administer and will provide support to those Project teams, while working closely with other members of the Finance department.\nDUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES\nSupport a portfolio of projects and teams on project financials as assigned by the Finance Director\nMeet specific timelines for issuing client progress billings monthly or as needed\nReview project budgets and fee structures to ensure accuracy of work in progress\nManage vendor invoices for assigned projects\nPrepare pre-billing reports for Project Managers to review\nWork with trades and suppliers on project invoicing, holdback releases and associated documentation\nProcess holdback reconciliations for release of trade holdback payments\nEnsure project close out procedures are completed timely; complete project filing as needed\nProcess and prepare accounts payable payments for assigned jobs as needed/directed\nProvide excellent customer service while providing quality of work that consistently meets expectations\nBuild and maintain strong relationships with Project Managers, Coordinators and other members of the finance and Kindred teams\nEnsure all assigned functions are carried out in compliance with approved policies, controls and standard practices\nImplement procedural or software changes identified and rolled out by Senior Leadership\nOther accounting duties as required\nKNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, & ABILITIES\nGeneral accounting knowledge obtained through experience and/or educationPost-secondary degree or diploma in accounting, and;\n5+ years of applicable construction accounting experience\n\nExcellent problem-solving skills\nPossess and maintain advanced computer skills with proficiency in MS Word and MS Excel.\nFamiliarity with accounting software - Spectrum by Viewpoint considered an asset. \nAbility to independently organize and prioritize workload to ensure timely completion of deliverables, and/or when to escalate concerns or issues\nAbility to work effectively both independently and in a team environment\nWillingness and initiative to learn from our Finance team to develop accounting skills such as the BC Lien Act and PST regulations relevant to the construction industry including attending internal or external courses as required\nDedicated to quality and service and maintaining this mindset and attitude daily\nKindred Construction is an equal opportunity employer that does not tolerate discrimination in the workplace.
