You will work with modern data technologies and cloud platforms while applying established engineering standards and best practices.\nYou will collaborate closely with other Data Engineers, Software Engineers, Product teams and stakeholders to deliver high-quality data solutions that meet business needs. Along the way, you will have opportunities to strengthen your technical expertise, contribute ideas and improvements, and continue developing your skills within Kingfisher’s wider data engineering community.\nResponsibilities\nDesign, build, test and maintain reliable, scalable and production-ready data pipelines and data solutions. \nDevelop and optimise data processing workflows, ensuring solutions are efficient, maintainable and cost-effective. \nWork with modern cloud data platforms and technologies to ingest, transform, store and process data from a range of sources. \nApply established Data Engineering standards, design patterns and best practices across data pipelines and solutions. \nContribute to CI/CD, automated testing, monitoring and observability to support reliable deployment and operation of data solutions. \nSupport data quality and governance by implementing appropriate validation, monitoring and controls. \nCollaborate with Data Engineers, Product teams, Architects and other technical stakeholders to understand requirements and deliver effective solutions. \nInvestigate and resolve data and pipeline issues, identifying root causes and implementing appropriate improvements. \nContribute to the continuous improvement of data platforms, engineering processes and ways of working. \nExplore, evaluate and implement practical applications of AI in Data Engineering, identifying opportunities to improve data quality, pipeline monitoring, anomaly detection, automated testing and overall engineering efficiency. \nParticipate in code reviews, technical discussions and knowledge sharing across the engineering team.\nWhat you'll bring\nGood problem-solving and analytical skills, with the ability to investigate technical and data-related issues. \nStrong programming skills in Python and SQL. \nHands-on experience with data processing technologies such as Spark, PySpark or Scala. \nExperience building and maintaining production data pipelines and data processing solutions. \nGood understanding of data modelling, storage, transformation and processing concepts. \nExperience with DBT or similar tools for data modelling and transformation. \nHands-on experience with at least one major cloud platform, such as GCP, Azure or AWS. \nExperience with modern data platforms and services such as Databricks, BigQuery or Azure Data Factory. \nUnderstanding of batch, streaming and event-driven data processing patterns. \nExperience with DevOps and DataOps practices, including CI/CD, Git and Infrastructure as Code. \nUnderstanding of data quality principles, automated testing and monitoring, with experience using relevant tools or frameworks. \nGood understanding of scalable, reliable and observable data solutions. \nAbility to work collaboratively within cross-functional engineering teams and communicate effectively with both technical and non-technical stakeholders. \nA continuous improvement
