This role is primarily focused on month-end close activities and plays an important part in ensuring the accuracy, completeness, and timeliness of financial reporting across the organization.\nWorking closely with the broader Accounting team, the Intermediate Accountant will take ownership of recurring accounting processes, including general ledger reconciliations, journal entries, construction-related accounting, intercompany transactions, and regulatory reporting. The successful candidate will bring a strong understanding of accounting principles, the ability to work independently, and an interest in identifying opportunities to improve processes and strengthen financial controls.\nKey Responsibilities\nExecute assigned month-end and year-end close activities independently, ensuring financial records are complete, accurate, and prepared within established deadlines.\nPrepare and record journal entries, accruals, recurring entries, and other adjustments, including work-in-progress adjustments and construction-related accounting entries.\nComplete general ledger account reconciliations, investigate and resolve discrepancies, and perform variance analysis to identify unusual balances or fluctuations.\nPrepare and contribute to the review of trial balances and general ledger transactions to support accurate and timely financial reporting.\nReconcile and record corporate card transactions and expense reports, ensuring completeness, accuracy, and compliance with company policies.\nPrepare, review, and reconcile intercompany transactions across relevant entities, ensuring balances are accurate and appropriately recorded.\nMaintain fixed asset schedules, ensuring assets are appropriately capitalized, tracked, depreciated, and recorded in accordance with company policies and applicable accounting standards.\nPrepare monthly HST filings, government remittances, and other applicable regulatory reporting for review and submission within required deadlines.\nLead external audits document gathering and preparation process, supporting schedules, and documentation, while maintaining appropriate financial controls.\nIdentify and recommend opportunities to improve accounting processes, reporting practices, internal controls, and departmental efficiencies, contributing to the standardization and documentation of month-end procedures.\nCollaborate with Finance team members and stakeholders across the organization to resolve accounting questions, obtain required information, and support business needs.\nParticipate in accounting projects and financial analysis initiatives and perform other accounting-related duties as required.\nRequirements\n3-5 years of progressive accounting experience, including hands-on experience with month-end and year-end close activities.\nA diploma or degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related discipline.\nStrong knowledge of accounting principles, general ledger accounting, account reconciliations, journal entries, and accruals.\nExperience with intercompany transactions, financial reporting, and regulatory remittances.\nStrong analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to investigate discrepancies and resolve issues independently.\nHighly proficient in Microsoft Excel and the broader Microsoft Office suite.\nExperience with accounting software and ERP systems; knowledge of Jonas, Texada and/or Yardi is an asset.\nStrong organizational and time management skills, with the ability to prioritize competing tasks and meet recurring deadlines.\nEffective written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to work collaboratively across teams.\nA proactive mindset, with an interest in process improvement, standardization, and operational efficiency.\nAssets\nExperience in real estate development, construction, or property management.\nFamiliarity with construction accounting, including job costing and work-in-progress accounting.\nExperience working in a multi-entity organization with intercompany accounting requirements.\nBenefits\nDental care\nExtended health care\nVision care\nExtensive EFAP program\nVirtual Urgent Care\nAccommodations\nKingsley Management Inc. is committed to providing an accessible and supportive recruitment experience for persons with disabilities.
