The ideal candidate will bring strong financial and analytical skills, close attention to detail, and the ability to manage multiple vendors, invoices, and priorities at once. This individual will work directly with the Operations Finance leadership team and collaborate frequently with Finance, Technology, Procurement, Accounts Payable, and third-party service providers.\nRESPONSIBILITIES\nThe Associate is responsible for supporting the day-to-day financial management of operational and initiative budgets, ensuring expenses are accurately recorded and allocated, and helping hold vendors accountable for cost and service delivery. This role requires a strong understanding of budgeting, expense allocation, and financial controls, and the ability to turn financial data into clear recommendations for senior stakeholders.\nFinancial Planning & Budget Management\nSupport management of operational and project-related budgets across insurance operations.\nPrepare cost estimates, funding analyses, and forecasts for new and ongoing programs.\nAssist in developing and maintaining business cases for strategic initiatives and technology investments.\nEvaluate recurring and one-time expenses and recommend funding sources and expense allocations across business units and projects.\nVendor & Contract Management\nSupport relationships with operational and technology vendors and service providers.\nReview vendor invoices, validate charges, confirm coding, and coordinate payment processing with Accounts Payable.\nAssist in assessing contract renewals, pricing, and service agreements to maximize value and control costs.\nMonitor vendor deliverables, service commitments, and financial obligations.\nExpense Governance & Reporting\nManage invoice allocation, expense coding, capitalization treatment, and cost center activity.\nResolve financial discrepancies and support reconciliations across multiple operational areas.\nTrack service-level performance, scorecards, and operational metrics for third-party administrators and service providers, and escalate issues as needed.\nPrepare reporting and financial insights for leadership decision-making.\nAssist with audit requests and maintain control documentation.\nIdentify and implement AI and automation opportunities to improve the accuracy, speed, and consistency of budgeting, forecasting, reconciliation, and reporting processes.\nAssist with ad-hoc requests, as needed.\nQUALIFICATIONS\nBachelor's degree required in accounting, finance, business, or related field.\n3-5 years of related experience in operations finance, financial management, business analysis, or program management; insurance or financial services experience preferred.\nStrong understanding of budgeting, expense allocation, forecasting, and financial controls.\nExperience managing vendor relationships, invoices, and service agreements preferred.\nAdvanced Excel and financial analysis skills; experience with OneStream, PeopleSoft, or similar systems preferred.\nExcellent attention to detail and ability to deliver accurate, complete work and meet deadlines.\nStrong stakeholder management and written and oral communication skills, including with senior leaders.\nAbility to work collaboratively and independently with minimal supervision.\nA continuous improvement mindset.\nThis is the expected annual base salary range for this Hartford based position, $90,000 to $120,000. Actual salaries may vary based on factors, such as skill, experience, and qualification for the role.
