Our inspection, metrology, and analytics systems detect and monitor defects across logic and memory chips, specialty semiconductors, wafers, reticles, advanced packaging, process equipment and materials. Each CoE contributes not only technical deliverables but also deep expertise, best practices, and advanced tools that elevate both what we build-and how we build it.What You'll Do\nIn this role, you will play a key part in advancing business priorities by delivering high-impact work across your area of expertise.\nWe are seeking a skilled and detail-oriented Manual Machinist / Precision Assembly Technician to support the manufacture, assembly, testing, and improvement of high-precision air bearing spindle systems. This position combines traditional machining skills with precision mechanical assembly, measurement, testing, troubleshooting, and documentation.\nThe successful candidate will machine, fit, assemble, inspect, and test precision mechanical components to tight tolerances. The role requires the ability to work independently from engineering drawings, process documentation, and assembly procedures while maintaining the highest standards of quality and workmanship.\nEssential Duties and Responsibilities\nOperate manual machine tools including engine lathes, vertical and horizontal milling machines, surface grinders, drill presses, and honing, polishing, lapping, and finishing equipment.\nPerform fitting, alignment, assembly, and adjustment of high-precision air bearing spindle assemblies and related subassemblies.\nMeasure and inspect components using precision metrology equipment including micrometers, calipers, dial indicators, bore gauges, height gauges, optical measuring equipment, and precision test instruments\nAssemble components to micron-level tolerances while ensuring proper fit and functionality.\nConduct testing, performance verification.\nAnalyze measurement and test data and make necessary mechanical adjustments to achieve performance specifications.\nMaintain accurate production records, inspection data, and test documentation using computer-based systems.\nPreferred Qualifications\nHigh school diploma or equivalent required.\nTechnical school, apprenticeship, or equivalent machining experience preferred.\nStrong understanding of machining practices, tolerances, fits, and geometric relationships.\nAbility to read and interpret mechanical drawings, GD&T, assembly drawings, process documentation, and bills of materials\nExperience with air bearing systems.\nExperience assembling spindles, motors, precision stages, or rotating equipment.\nFamiliarity with semiconductor, aerospace, optics, medical device, or precision manufacturing industries.\nKnowledge of balancing, vibration testing, and performance testing.\nBasic understanding of electronics and electromechanical systems.\nExperience working with test stands and computerized measurement equipment.\nPreferred Skills\nMachining Skills: Manual lathe operation, manual milling machine operation, surface grinding, and precision drilling, reaming, and boring\nMechanical Assembly Skills: Precision assembly of mechanical systems\nand assembly adjustment and tuning\nMeasurement & Inspection Skills: Tolerance verification, runout measurement, concentricity and alignment verification, and use of inspection and calibration equipment\nComputer Skills: Basic computer proficiency, reviewing electronic drawings and work instructions, and recording inspection and test results\nPhysical Requirements\nAbility to lift up to 40 pounds.\nAbility to stand for extended periods.\nGood manual dexterity and hand-eye coordination.\nAbility to work with small precision components.\nExcellent visual acuity and attention to detail.\nKey Success Factors\nThe ideal candidate is a hands-on craftsman who takes pride in producing high-quality precision work.
