This position is responsible for ensuring continuous production and delivery of products for the packaging department by supervising and coordinating the activities of the Packaging department, including but not limited to, assigning duties, training, prioritizing, enforcing proper policies and procedures, and resolving issues.\nPrepare and adjust department work schedules daily based on production plan and inventory needs.\nReview and send Packer III daily schedule in order to build job folders for packaging staff and create and print labels in the label system as needed to prepare workstations.\nMaintain work instructions/procedures and determine workflow for packaging operations to ensure employees meet packaging and efficiency standards.\nProvide on-the-job training and mentor team members in order to create a safe and productive work environment.\nEnter production data from each employee into the Shop Floor System in order to accurately record department performance and send a daily report to the Packaging Manager to provide an update of daily activities and any issues encountered.\nMake employment recommendations on hiring, promotion, transfers, training and development, disciplinary action, terminations and pay adjustments; monitor performance by completing new hire and annual performance evaluations.\nTroubleshoot minor equipment issues and work with maintenance to troubleshoot and repair more extensive machinery issues, identify root causes, and implement corrective solutions.\nDrive a proactive approach to Safety Management through education and reinforcement. Ensure that proper safety methods are used in the department. Ensure team maintains an orderly and clean department.\nComprehend and administer all Company policies and procedures outlined in the Employee Handbook and/or internal communications from management team.\nMay operate Pallet Jack and Forklift to move product around the department as necessary.\nPerform daily safety inspections of packaging equipment and ensure staff meets all safety requirements.\nRe-allocate labor from one department to another in order to support business demand throughout the facility.\nMay perform the duties of subordinates as needed to meet packaging production deadlines.\nPerform all other duties as assigned.\nQualifications\nBachelor's Degree in Operations and Logistics or related field with one year of relevant work experience required. Experience working in a distribution or manufacturing environment preferred. \nExperience AS400 and Shop Floor System, Boss and Warehouse Management System preferred.\nMust be able to operate a Class II Order Picker and Class II Stand-Up Forklift, Pallet Jack, Label Printing System, RF Sealer, and Staple Gun. \nStrong leadership skills combined with the ability to maintain confidentiality when dealing with people, projects and issues. \nAbility to handle multiple functions. \nWillingness to become a certified First Responder and respond to emergencies (including after hours) is required.\nPhysical Demand Requirements \nRegularly required to stand, walk, bend, and lift; use hands to finger, handle or feel objects, tools or controls; reach with hands and arms; The employee is occasionally required to sit, reach above shoulders, climb stairs; balance; stoop, kneel, crouch or crawl; talk or hear; taste or smell. The employee must lift and/or move objects up to 50 pounds.
