The ideal candidates will participate in and contribute to a diverse range of engineering projects and services in our team-oriented environment. Under the direction of experienced engineers, you will gain exposure to Mining, Industrial & Commercial Land Development, and other engineering projects. This position is available in our Raleigh, NC office.\nResponsibilities:\nUnder supervision and working with experienced staff, the successful candidates will complete mining/civil engineering designs and the generation of construction plans and specifications, technical calculations, exhibits and reports primarily serving mining clients.\nResponsibilities include:\nUtilize Civil 3D including alignments, profiles and grading features to produce engineered construction plans and sheet set ups.\nUtilize Civil 3D, Carlson, etc. to prepare mine plans, geological modeling, reserve estimates, and operational scheduling. \nPrepare a variety of Civil 3D Plans, maps, and exhibits.\nPrepare regulatory permit drawings, applications, and other submittal requirements.\nPerform hydrologic and hydraulic modeling and calculations to support engineering design.\nWork in conjunction with mining/civil engineers and project leaders to develop engineering designs. \nFollow project schedules and allotted hours by Project manager.\nFollow internal and/or client procedures and standards.\nEvaluating design alternatives to solve constructability, regulatory, and site challenges\nPerforming site visits to perform job scoping and coordinating with survey crews, SUE, Geotech, etc.\nPerform other engineering and project-support duties while developing technical knowledge of mining and civil construction operations.\nThe ideal candidate would possess the following:\nSelf-starter who can work independently and with team members.\nExcellent written and verbal communication skills.\nAbility to work as a team player, take direction, and interact well with others.\nBasic understanding of Site Grading & Storm Drainage, Erosion and Sediment Control and Storm Water Best Management Practices with strong desire to learn and an interest in mining/civil engineering design.\nBasic understanding of civil construction, surveying, earthworks, and engineering drawings.\nFamiliarity with AutoCAD/Civil 3D, Carlson, Microsoft Excel, and other engineering/project software is beneficial.\nStrong communication, problem-solving, organizational, and documentation skills.\nAbility to work primarily in a office environment and collaborate with multidisciplinary teams.\nWillingness to learn mining operations, construction practices, safety requirements, and applicable engineering standards.\nPosition Requirements\nBachelor’s degree in civil engineering, mining engineering, construction engineering, or a related engineering/mining discipline.\n0-2 years of experience, including internships, co-ops, or civil/mining engineering experience.\nEngineer-in-Training (EIT) Certificate preferred.\nBasic knowledge and experience using AuotCAD is required, proficiency with Civil 3D is preferred.\nFollowing an offer, candidates will be required to satisfactorily complete employment reference checks, verification of professional licensure and/or educational credentials, a motor vehicle report (MVR), and a comprehensive background check.\nMove Forward with Kleinfelder:\nKleinfelder and its’ subsidiaries and affiliates, has been connecting great people to the best work since 1961.
