From earthquake and seismic engineering to the latest trenchless technology methods, Kleinfelder's Geotechnical Services support the planning, engineering, and construction of complex projects, and our specialists are leading experts in their fields.\nStep into Your New Role\nKleinfelder’s Rancho Cordova (Sacramento) office is seeking a skilled Senior Geological Engineer with 10+ years' experience related to geological engineering, geotechnical engineering or geology, soil logging and testing, foundation design, geotechnical type analysis, technical report preparation, and/or construction testing and observation. This position is a hybrid schedule and requires travel.\nThe ideal candidate must have previous experience working on one or more of the following types of disciplines: geological engineering, geotechnical engineering, geology, or civil engineering. However, we are open to providing training for the right candidate.\nIdeal candidates will possess strong communication and writing skills and technical background in geologic/engineering projects. Experience in the following areas is desired:\nRock mechanics\nSlope stability analysis including rock slope stability and kinematic analysis\nRockfall hazard assessments\nRock bolting and retaining walls\nDeep and shallow foundations including drilled shafts and providing support (including on site) during foundation construction and installation\nInstrumentation\nDams\nTunnel characterization\nPlanning, implementing, and managing geotechnical exploration and drilling programs including rock coring and assigning laboratory testing\nSupervising field observation, testing, and performing site visits\nSupporting project managers in budget management, client updates, and general project management tasks\nPreparing and presenting technical presentations to clients and technical review boards\nBe able to proactively troubleshoot and problem-solve with practical, client-focused solutions\nHave experience leading teams and professionally develop staff at all levels\nBe able to organize priorities and multi-task effectively\nPossess a thirst to learn and achieve continuous improvement in a team environment \nRope work (ideally rope certified, i.e., SPRAT certification)\nRequirements\nBS degree in geological engineering, geotechnical engineering, civil engineering, or geology (MS preferred)\nProfessional Engineer (PE) registered in the state of California (ideally also a Professional Geologist (PG) and Certified Engineering Geologist (CEG))\n10+ years of related experience in consulting engineering firm or related service business and knowledge of applicable laws and regulations required\nExceptional attention to detail and writing skills are required for this task\nValid Driver's License with a clean driving record\nPhysical ability to be in the field, carry equipment, perform testing and sampling for multiple hours or multiple days in a row\nTravel within the state of California (travel outside of California is a plus but not required)\nMicrosoft Office Suite\nFamiliarity with Rocscience, GeoStudio, and Ensoft software\nFollowing an offer, candidates will be required to satisfactorily complete employment reference checks, verification of professional licensure and/or educational credentials, a motor vehicle report (MVR), and a comprehensive background check.\nMove Forward with Kleinfelder: Kleinfelder and its’ subsidiaries and affiliates, has been connecting great people to the best work since 1961. The expected salary range for the position is displayed in accordance with the California Pay Transparency Law. Final agreed upon compensation is based upon individual qualifications and experience.
