Built on a foundation of safety and operational excellence, we deliver time- and cost-saving solutions through a modern fleet and a highly skilled team of professionals.\nAt KLS, we value people who Help First, stay Hungry, are Willing to Learn, and remain Committed to doing the job right.\nWhat You’ll Do\nSafely and efficiently operate one or more types of heavy construction equipment.\nComplete earthworks, excavation, grading, loading, backfilling, material placement, site development, and other work based on project requirements.\nPerform daily equipment inspections, safety checks, and basic maintenance, including cleaning and lubrication.\nRead and interpret site plans, grade stakes, ground markings, and other project information as required.\nWork safely around underground and overhead utilities.\nMaintain required grades, depths, slopes, and elevations based on the work being completed.\nPerform rough and/or fine grading where experience allows.\nUtilize GPS and machine-control systems where applicable.\nWork safely and effectively around ground crews, other equipment, trucks, and active construction operations.\nIdentify equipment issues or unsafe conditions and report them to the Supervisor.\nAssist ground crews and other team members when equipment is not in use.\nFollow all KLS safety policies, procedures, and site requirements.\nQualifications\n3+ years of heavy equipment operating experience preferred.\nExperience operating one or more of the following: excavator, dozer, loader, grader, skid steer, packer, rock truck, or similar heavy equipment.\nPrevious experience in earthworks, civil construction, underground utilities, site development, or grading is preferred.\nFinish grading and GPS/machine-control experience are considered strong assets.\nAbility to safely work around underground utilities and active ground crews.\nStrong awareness of equipment capabilities and site conditions.\nStrong critical-thinking, troubleshooting, and problem-solving skills.\nAbility to work independently while also contributing to a team environment.\nWillingness to assist outside of the equipment when required.\nPhysically capable of performing construction-related duties, including lifting and carrying up to 50 lbs.\nWilling to work out of town when required.\nAbility to work extended hours, overtime, and occasional weekends based on project demands.\nMust comply with KLS' drug and alcohol policy and complete required pre-employment testing and fit testing.\nWhat we are Offering\nCompetitive industry wages based on experience and equipment capabilities\nFull benefits on day 1\nGroup RSP eligibility after 2 years of employment\nTraining and development opportunities\nModern, well-maintained equipment\nSupportive team environment\nOpportunities to expand your skills across different equipment\nOpportunity to grow with a leading Alberta earthworks company\nPlay an important role in supporting workplace safety and employee success\nKLS Earthworks Inc. is committed to creating a safe and inclusive workplace.
