We have a skilled and experienced workforce dedicated to achieving excellence in all areas of the business such as Manufacturing, Engineering, Project Management and Business Support functions.\nAs our business evolves, we are looking to strengthen our workforce with talented and motivated individuals across a range of disciplines and currently have this opportunity available.\nAbout the role:\nYou will provide technical and project management support across CNC machining operations, driving process improvements, delivering engineering projects, managing machine installations, and developing SOPs and training. Working closely with production, engineering, suppliers, and contractors, you will help ensure safe, efficient, and cost-effective operations that meet quality and delivery requirements.\nKey duties include, but are not limited to:\nApply knowledge of CNC machining processes to support production and resolve technical issues.\n\nDesign and develop fixtures, jigs, tooling, and work-holding solutions.\n\nSelect appropriate cutting tools and optimize machining strategies.\n\nImprove current tooling, machining methods, and process efficiency.\n\nCreate, update, and maintain manufacturing instructions, documentation, and Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs).\n\nDeliver training to operators on processes, procedures, documentation, and best practices.\n\nManage engineering and manufacturing projects using structured project management methods.\n\nUse Microsoft Project to plan, track, and report project activities.\n\nLead and coordinate machine installations, commissioning activities, and contract management.\n\nWork with suppliers and contractors to ensure safe and effective delivery of tasks.\n\nSupport Lean activities and continuous improvement across machining operations.\n\nCommunicate effectively with internal teams, providing updates, technical support, and project reports.\n\nWork independently and collaboratively to deliver engineering outcomes.\n\nWhat we’re looking for:\nCandidates must have the following essential qualifications and experience:\nGCSE in Maths and English at a Grade 4 or higher, or equivalent qualification.\n\nStrong understanding of CNC machining principles and manufacturing processed.\n\nExperience using milling machines.\n\nThe ability to design fixtures and select or specify cutting tools\n\nExperience with improving machining tooling, methods, or processes.\n\nExperience creating SOPs, work instructions, and manufacturing documentation.\n\nProficiency in AutoCAD.\n\nProven experience managing engineering or manufacturing projects.\n\nProficiency in Microsoft Office and Microsoft Project.\n\nExperience with SAP or similar ERP systems.\n\nThe following are desirable:\nPRINCE2 certification (or equivalent project management qualification).\n\nEx-machine operator\n\nExperience with CAD software for fixture design (e.g. SolidWorks, Inventor).\n\nExperience in precision machining industries such as aerospace or automotive.\n\nKnowledge of continuous improvement methodologies beyond basic Lean (Kaizen, TPM, etc.).\n\nPrevious experience in a Manufacturing Engineering or similar role.\n\nSuccessful candidates will be able to demonstrate the following skills and aptitudes:\nStrong problem-solving skills with a practical, hands-on engineering approach.\n\nAbility to interpret technical drawings, specifications, and machining requirements.\n\nGood organisational and time-management abilities.\n\nHigh attention to detail and commitment to quality.\n\nAdaptability to changing priorities and project demands.\n\nConfidence to liaise with suppliers, contractors, and cross-functional teams.\n\nProactive mindset with a drive for improvement and efficiency.\n\nProfessional attitude, reliability, and strong work ethic.\n\nWhy you should join us:\nWhen you become part of the KNDS UK team, you will enjoy employee benefits such as:\nCompetitive salary\n\nAttractive pension (4% employee contribution, 7% employer contribution)\n\nHalf-day Friday\n\nLife assurance scheme\n\nCompany sick pay scheme which increases with service\n\nEmployee Assistance Programme (EAP)\n\nAdditional Holidays & Long Service rewards\n\nWellbeing initiatives, such as Free Fruit on Tuesday’s\n\nCycle-to-work Scheme\n\nFree on-site car parking\n\nOn-site electric vehicle charging point\n\nWe’re also very proud to be part of the Armed Forces Covenant since 2018, achieving their Silver Award in 2020 and Gold Award in 2024.
