We have a skilled and experienced workforce dedicated to achieving excellence in all areas of the business from Engineering to Project Management, Business Support to Operations.\nAs our business evolves, we are looking to strengthen our workforce with talented and motivated individuals across a range of disciplines to work from our Northwest Engineering Centre of Excellence and currently have this opportunity available:\nAbout the role:\nThe primary purpose of this role is to support the business by being a key part of the welding coordination team and enhancing the welding quality management system (WQMS).\nKey duties include, but are not limited to:\nEnsure compliance with welding standards and procedures - RWC for business\n\nSupport the business with day-to-day welding activities\n\nLead the works order planning data (welding) for SAP\n\nPlan and coordinate internal welder audits and the audit functions related to welding accreditations\n\nIdentify root causes of weld issues and internal weld audit NCR’s, using structured problem solving methodology\n\nSupport strategic changes driven by Root Cause Corrective Actions (RCCA) to implement change\n\nReviewing welding related suppliers to ensure suitability to provide the required services\n\nDevelop WPS’s as required for new product intake (NPI) and legacy programmes\n\nDevelop standard operating procedures (SOP) or work instructions applicable to welding ensuring all required information cascades correctly\n\nPerform EN 1090, ISO 3834 & DIN 2303 pre-audit analysis and identify any potential NCR’s\n\nCoordinate welder qualification testing to BS EN ISO 9606, 14732 to ensure compliance\n\nSupport production engineering & design on welding related matters and drive change as required\n\nSupport the business to ensure correct welding plant selection\n\nSupport the business to identify latest technology / best in class welding equipment applicable to KNDS projects / products\n\nImplement change with legacy programmes to ensure product quality is maintained whilst identifying areas to improve.\n\nWhat we’re looking for:\nOur ideal candidate will be able to demonstrate the following:\nIWT / EWT qualified\n\nRegistration with the welding institute (TWI)\n\nCSWIP 3.1 qualified\n\nPrevious welding coordination experience\n\nExcellent knowledge and understanding of multiple welding processes, MIG/MAG(SMAW) TIG(GTAW)\n\nUnderstanding of technical documents including drawings\n\nWorking knowledge of ISO 3834\n\nExposure to external audit activity\n\nExperience in general computer skills\n\nPeople management skills\n\nWhy you should join us:\nWhen you become part of the KNDS UK team, you will enjoy employee benefits such as:\nCompetitive salary\n\nAttractive pension (4% employee contribution, 7% employer contribution)\n\nHalf-day Friday\n\nLife assurance scheme\n\nCompany sick pay scheme which increases with service\n\nEmployee Assistance Programme\n\nAdditional Holidays & other Long Service rewards\n\nWellbeing initiatives, such as Free Fruit on Tuesday’s\n\nCycle to work Scheme\n\nFree on-site car parking\n\nOn-site electric vehicle charging points\n\nWe’re also very proud to be part of the Armed Forces Covenant since 2018, achieving their Silver Award in 2020 and Gold Award in 2024.
