What the role will entail

Lead the Programme and Solution Delivery capability, owning the end-to-end delivery portfolio and ensuring technology investment is translated into measurable business outcomes. The role is accountable for shaping, prioritising and delivering the portfolio aligned to business strategy, whilst leading Programme Managers, Business Analysts and delivery resources across a matrix organisation and partner ecosystem.

Working closely with Technology leadership, Business Partners, Architecture, IT Ops, BPs, Security and external delivery partners, the role provides the leadership, governance and execution capability required to successfully deliver strategic programmes, projects and transformation initiatives

Key Accountabilities

Portfolio Leadership

  • Lead the delivery portfolio, ensuring alignment to business strategy, organisational priorities and investment objectives.

  • Maintain visibility of what is being delivered, when it will be delivered and who is accountable for delivery.

  • Drive portfolio prioritisation, dependency management, resource planning and delivery governance.

  • Provide clear reporting on delivery performance, risks, milestones, benefits and investment outcomes.

Programme & Solution Delivery

  • Lead the successful delivery of strategic programmes, projects and technology-enabled business change initiatives.

  • Oversee programme mobilisation, planning, governance and execution from concept through to value realisation.

  • Ensure solutions are shaped effectively, balancing business outcomes, risk, cost and technical considerations.

  • Establish consistent delivery standards, methodologies and controls across the portfolio.

Leadership & Capability Management

  • Lead and develop a team of Delivery Leads, Programme Managers, Project Managers and Business Analysts.

  • Build a high-performing delivery capability with clear accountabilities, standards and career pathways.

  • Create a culture of ownership, collaboration, continuous improvement and delivery excellence.

  • Ensure the right mix of permanent, contract and partner capability is available to meet portfolio demand

Stakeholder & Partner Management

  • Act as the senior delivery partner for business and technology stakeholders.

  • Work across a matrix organisation to align business sponsors, technology teams and delivery resources around common outcomes.

  • Manage strategic delivery partners and suppliers, holding them accountable for performance, quality and value.

  • Influence senior leaders to make informed investment, prioritisation and delivery decisions.

Governance & Operating Model

  • Establish and embed effective portfolio and programme governance.

  • Drive consistency in demand management, prioritisation, funding decisions and delivery reporting.

  • Ensure resource capacity, delivery readiness and investment decisions are aligned.

  • Support the evolution of the technology portfolio and operating model.

Experience & Skills

  • Significant experience leading enterprise portfolios, programmes and technology transformation (15 years + of experience in similar environments leading company wide transformations)

  • Proven leadership of Programme Managers, PMOs, Business Analysts and multi-disciplinary delivery teams.

  • Strong stakeholder management and executive communication skills.

  • Experience operating within matrix organisations and managing external delivery partners.

  • Demonstrable success delivering complex business and technology change initiatives.

  • Expertise in portfolio management, governance, resource planning, financial oversight and benefits realisation.

  • Experience of delivering a portfolio of change including CRM, Data and Digital across a global and local operating model

This role is ultimately accountable for turning strategy into delivery, ensuring the organisation has the leadership, capability, governance and execution focus required to deliver its portfolio successfully.
