Position Overview:
The Instructional Designer is responsible for producing polished, learner-ready video content for the course catalog, combining video generation with motion graphics and editing craft. This role owns the full production pipeline: translating an approved script or storyboard into visual sequences, developing footage and visual assets using a combination of traditional and AI-assisted production tools, and turning them into a professional, brand-consistent training course.
Responsibilities:
- Translate learning objectives and instructional content into clear, engaging visual sequences that support learner comprehension and retention.
- Develop storyboards and shot sequences from approved instructional scripts.
- Generate and refine video, imagery, and motion assets using AI-enabled production tools based on the storyboard and brand style guide.
- Edit, composite, and finish generated and traditional footage using video editing software, including pacing, transitions, audio sync, and color.
- Build supporting motion graphics, titles, lower-thirds, and animated diagrams.
- Review visual assets, footage, motion graphics, and scene layouts for accuracy, relevance, quality, and alignment with the instructional content before final delivery.
- Maintain visual and brand consistency across the course catalog, including typography, color palette, and motion style.
- Partner with quality control to revise content based on feedback within production timelines.
- Manage project files, versioning, and asset libraries for reuse across courses.
- Develop and refine production processes to achieve the intended visual outcome efficiently and consistently.
- Identify opportunities to improve production workflows, templates, and reusable visual assets to increase consistency and efficiency across course development.
- Stay current on video production, editing, and AI-enabled tools and techniques, recommending workflow improvements as the tool landscape evolves.
Required Experience and Skills:
- 2+ years of experience in video editing, motion graphics, instructional media, or a related production role.
- Proficiency in Adobe Premiere Pro, with working knowledge of Adobe After Effects for motion graphics.
- Demonstrated hands-on experience with modern video production tools, including AI-powered generation and editing tools.
- Strong storyboarding and visual planning skills, with an understanding of pacing for instructional or explainer content.
- Strong understanding of instructional design principles and how visual presentation, pacing, and sequencing support effective learning.
- Strong visual storytelling and creative judgment, with the ability to select the appropriate combination of footage, graphics, text, diagrams, and motion for different types of instructional content.
- Solid understanding of typography, composition, visual hierarchy, and brand consistency in video.
- Strong attention to detail, with the ability to identify and correct visual, timing, continuity, and quality issues before content is finalized.
- Strong organizational skills and the ability to manage multiple projects, files, revisions, and production deadlines simultaneously.
