You’ll take ownership of significant areas of the monthly close and help ensure the integrity of our general ledger, primarily in NetSuite. Through accurate reconciliations, thoughtful variance analysis, and day-to-day cash management, you’ll bring clarity to the numbers, improve how we work, and help our fast-growing business deliver for the people and merchants who rely on us.\nWhat You’ll Do\nFinancial Reporting & Close Process\nOwn assigned areas of the month-end close, including the accuracy, completeness, and timeliness of the underlying financial records\nPerform journal entries, account reconciliations, and supporting schedules\nPrepare internal and external financial statements and supporting schedules\nAnalyze monthly variance and flux analysis for assigned P&L and balance sheet accounts, including written explanations of the underlying drivers\nEnsure proper application of U.S. GAAP across all assigned accounting treatments\nReconciliations & General Ledger\nOwn balance sheet and income statement account reconciliations\nInvestigate and resolve reconciling items and discrepancies in a timely manner\nPerform subledger-to-general-ledger tie-outs and resolve differences at the source\nTreasury & Cash Management\nSupport daily cash positioning and monthly bank reconciliations across all operating accounts\nContribute to cash forecasting and monitor liquidity against operating needs\nPerform cash flow analysis and communicate findings to management\nCoordinate directly with banking partners on account activity, exceptions, and setup\nProcess Improvement & Systems\nUse AI tools to identify and build automations that reduce manual effort across recurring close, reconciliation, and reporting processes\nIdentify and implement improvements to accounting processes, controls, and close-cycle efficiency\nContribute to accounting system enhancements, implementations, and automation projects\nDevelop and maintain documentation of accounting policies, procedures, and close checklists\nCross-Functional Collaboration\nBuild and maintain strong working relationships with Operations, Legal, Product, and FP&A\nPartner with management to provide insights that support business decision-making\nCommunicate accounting impacts clearly to non-accounting stakeholders\nSupport interdepartmental initiatives and process improvements\nAudit & Compliance\nServe as a key point of contact for external auditors during financial statement audits\nPrepare audit schedules and respond to audit inquiries\nCorrespond with multiple U.S. states regarding sales tax compliance, filings, audits, and inquiries\nAdditional Responsibilities\nSupport ad hoc projects and analyses as assigned\nStay current on accounting standards, regulatory requirements, and industry best practices\nAbout You\nBachelor's degree in Accounting or Finance\n3-5 years of accounting experience, including at least 2 years in a corporate or in-house accounting role\nDemonstrated ownership of month-end close areas, including journal entries, account reconciliations, and close-cycle deadlines\nHands-on general ledger experience in an ERP environment (NetSuite strongly preferred)\nExperience preparing account reconciliations and financial statements, and explaining variances to management\nStrong knowledge of U.S. GAAP\nAdvanced proficiency in Excel (pivot tables, lookups, large data sets)\nProven ability to manage multiple projects and competing priorities against a fixed close calendar\nAttention to detail in a high level of accuracy\nAbility to work independently and as part of a collaborative team\nStrong written and verbal communication skills\nAdaptability and comfort working in a dynamic, high-growth environment\nPreferred\nCPA license (active or in progress)\nExperience supporting or performing financial statement audits\nFamiliarity with financial services, consumer finance, leasing, or lease-to-own industries\nSales tax compliance experience across multiple states\nExperience with close management or reconciliation software\nLocation: Richmond, VA; Arlington, VA; or Remote (U.S.).
