You’ll be working in a fast-paced, deadline-driven environment, so your organisational and prioritisation skills, as well as an inquisitive and curious mindset, will be vital as you are constantly exposed to new challenges.\nIn return, you’ll work with a forward-thinking and collaborative team in an entrepreneurial environment where your ideas and suggestions on how to maximise value for our clients are always welcome.\nThis is also a great learning opportunity where you’ll be exposed to multiple departments across the organisation. Kobalt is a global music and technology company built for songwriters and publishers, with the technology infrastructure to enable better tracking and royalty collection for the billions of micro-payments per song in digital music today.\nWhat You’ll Do\nTake ownership of a range of scheduled and ad-hoc activities, including weekly processing and allocation of our clients’ royalties.\nWork closely with other members of the Royalties team, as well as colleagues across Publishing Operations and Finance, handling a wide range of statement and quality-control checks.\nReconcile payments against royalty data, investigating discrepancies and escalating issues to relevant stakeholders where required.\nInvestigate and resolve processing failures to maximise royalty payment generation.\nEnsure statements, data files and receipts are received accurately and on time and handled in line with internal schedules, standards and deadlines.\nDocument and maintain best practices, ensuring colleagues have the information and guidance required to resolve issues arising from distributions.\nSupport Copyright teams with queries and guidance relating to royalties and royalty processing.\nBuild effective working relationships with income sources and internal stakeholders.\nIdentify opportunities to improve existing tools and processes to continually enhance our service offering.\nEnsure processing deadlines are met so Kobalt can pay its writers and publishers accurately and on time.\nYou may also be asked to support additional responsibilities as required by the team.\nWhat You’ll Bring\nPreferred:\nStrong numerical skills with excellent organisation and prioritisation capabilities.\nA high level of attention to detail and a strong commitment to accuracy.\nConfidence working with and formatting data in Excel, including using PivotTables and formulas such as VLOOKUP.\nExcellent written and verbal communication skills.\nAn inquisitive and curious mindset, with the confidence to investigate problems and ask questions.\nA solutions-oriented approach and the ability to use your initiative to solve problems.\nThe ability to identify and initiate improvements to existing tools and processes.\nThe ability to adapt to change and work effectively within a fast-paced, deadline-driven environment.\nA collaborative approach and confidence working with colleagues across different teams.\nAdditional Skills That Could Add Value:\nA good understanding of music publishing.\nPrevious administration, copyright or royalty-processing experience.\nAn understanding of publishing income flows.\nKnowledge of key stakeholders across the music publishing industry.\nPrevious experience working with royalty, financial or other large datasets.\nWhat Success Looks Like\nBy Month 3: You’ll have developed a strong understanding of Kobalt’s royalty processes, systems and internal schedules and be confident in supporting weekly processing, allocations, statement checks and reconciliations.\nBy Month 6: You’ll be independently managing your core Flowthrough responsibilities, accurately reconciling payments against royalty data, investigating processing failures and escalating issues appropriately to ensure deadlines are met.\nBy Year 1: You’ll be a trusted member of the Royalties team who consistently delivers accurate and timely processing, has established strong relationships with income sources and internal stakeholders and proactively identifies opportunities to improve tools, processes and ways of working.\nKey Behaviours for Success\nAccuracy & Attention to Detail - You work carefully with royalty and financial data, maintain high standards of accuracy and take responsibility for ensuring issues or discrepancies are identified and resolved.\nCuriosity & Problem-Solving - You’re inquisitive about how things work, use your initiative to investigate problems and look for practical solutions rather than simply escalating issues.\nOrganisation & Prioritisation - You manage recurring and ad-hoc responsibilities effectively and can prioritise your workload to meet important processing and payment deadlines.\nInterview Process\nIntroductory call with a member of our Recruitment Team\nInterview with the hiring manager\nInterview with relevant members of the Royalties team\nFinal stage interview\nFeedback at each stage\nWe aim to complete the full interview process from initial application to offer within three working weeks.
