These minerals are needed to build electric infrastructure, vehicles, data centers, and electronics. However, the mining industry is making 10x fewer discoveries per dollar spent on exploration compared to 30 years ago because the easy-to-find, near surface deposits have largely been discovered.\nKoBold was founded to be the first AI native mineral exploration, mine development, and technology development company. Our goal is to turn mineral exploration into a repeatable science to discover the minerals the world needs-by integrating artificial intelligence, human intelligence, and new technology. Our multidisciplinary teams of data scientists, engineers, and geologists work together to build data systems, design new sensors, and establish industry-leading workflows to develop and test subsurface predictions on our exploration projects.\nOur first discovery, Mingomba, is a high-grade copper deposit in Zambia, found after spending materially less than industry average. We are developing Mingomba with the same technical rigor that we apply to exploration. The Mingomba team brings together mine and processing engineers, geologists, data scientists, software engineers, and community, health & safety, construction, and operations specialists. By combining industry knowledge and cutting edge technology, we are developing Mingomba into a world class project that has safer and more predictable outcomes for ourselves, partners, and communities. It is expected to create thousands of good jobs for generations.\nKoBold runs exploration programs in eight countries, all with the potential for another discovery.\nKoBold is privately held; investors include institutional asset managers T. Rowe Price and Canada Pension Plan Investments; technology venture capitalists Andreessen Horowitz, Breakthrough Energy Ventures, BOND Capital, Durable Capital, StepStone, and Standard Investments; and strategic natural resources companies BHP and Mitsubishi.\nAbout the Role\nKoBold's ~280 geoscientists, data scientists, and engineers work remote-first across North America, Zambia, the DRC, Sweden, and field exploration sites around the world. As we scale, we are moving IT from reactive, break/fix support toward proactive, automated operations that work seamlessly across geographies - including field sites with limited connectivity.\n\nAs our Staff Client Platform Engineer, you are the senior-most hands-on engineer for KoBold's client platform: the endpoint fleet (macOS via Jamf, Windows via Intune), the identity layer (Okta, Google Workspace), and the SaaS application portfolio that connects to it. You will build zero-touch provisioning, treat configuration as code, instrument the fleet so we find problems before employees do, and automate the employee lifecycle so new hires are fully productive on day one - whether they sit in Denver or at a drill camp in Zambia.\n\nThis is a builder's role with technical leadership attached. You will set technical direction for endpoint and fleet tooling, mentor our global IT support staff, and raise the bar for what world-class IT operations looks like at a fast-moving exploration technology company - while spending most of your time engineering: writing Okta workflows, managing Jamf and Intune policy in Terraform, and scripting away repetitive work.\nResponsibilities\nEndpoint Platform & Fleet Automation\n\nDesign and implement zero-touch provisioning and automated reimaging workflows for macOS (Jamf) and Windows (Intune) endpoints\nApply DevOps principles to IT operations: configuration-as-code (e.g., managing Jamf and Intune policy via Terraform), version-controlled policies, and repeatable processes\nBuild endpoint monitoring, alerting, and fleet health dashboards to shift IT from reactive to proactive support\nDrive device lifecycle management: EoL/EoS tracking, hardware refresh planning, and inventory management across Jamf, Intune, CrowdStrike, and related tooling\nCreate self-service application deployment and access workflows that reduce helpdesk volume and empower employees\nHelp build the IT roadmap with the Head of Infrastructure Engineering, setting technical direction for endpoint management and fleet automation across all KoBold offices and field sites in 10+ countries\n\nIdentity & Access Engineering\n\nOwn Okta administration: SSO integrations, SCIM provisioning, group management, access request workflows, and lifecycle automation\nManage Google Workspace administration, including license management, security settings, and break-glass super-admin governance\nBuild automation for minimal-touch employee onboarding and offboarding - new hires fully provisioned on day one, departures cleanly deprovisioned\nSupport AI tooling rollout (Claude Desktop, Claude Code, and related tools) across the endpoint fleet, including deployment, configuration, and employee enablement\n\nSaaS Lifecycle & License Automation\n\nRun the software procurement lifecycle - new purchases, renewals, expansions, and cancellations - and build the renewal pipeline tooling so user access is never disrupted by a lapsed license\nInstrument license utilization across the SaaS portfolio: track usage, right-size seat counts, consolidate redundant tools, and support vendor pricing negotiations with data\nOnboard new SaaS applications with proper Okta integration (SSO, SCIM) before launch, and manage decommissioning of deprecated tools\nPartner with finance on software budget tracking, invoice approvals, and AFE submissions; give legal and finance proactive visibility into the renewal pipeline\n\nTechnical Leadership & Enablement\n\nProvide technical mentorship and coaching to KoBold's global IT support staff; set the standard for automation-first problem solving\nDevelop and maintain IT documentation and training for new hires and ongoing employee enablement\nProvide helpdesk backup on high-volume days, modeling the standard of responsiveness and quality you expect from the platform you build\n\nCross-Functional Collaboration\n\nCollaborate with infrastructure engineering and security on observability, access controls, endpoint security posture, incident response, and connectivity standards for remote field sites\nPartner across the company on specification, vendor selection, and change management for new software requests\nLearn about mineral exploration by working closely with exploration teams, including time in the field at remote operations\nQualifications\n7+ years in client platform engineering, IT engineering, or similar roles combining hands-on technical depth with operational ownership\nDeep experience with MDM platforms, particularly Jamf (macOS) and Microsoft Intune (Windows): policy configuration, automated enrollment, compliance enforcement, and ideally infrastructure-as-code approaches (e.g., Terraform)\nStrong experience with identity and access management (Okta strongly preferred): SSO integration, SCIM provisioning, access request workflows, and lifecycle automation\nHands-on experience building zero-touch provisioning, automated reimaging, and self-service deployment workflows at scale\nExperience with endpoint monitoring and fleet management at scale, including remote/distributed environments\nStrong scripting skills (Python, Bash, PowerShell, or similar) for building automation and tooling\nExperience managing or building tooling for SaaS licensing and renewals: utilization tracking, right-sizing, renewal pipelines, and vendor coordination\nTechnical leadership experience: you have mentored engineers or support staff and led projects end-to-end without formal authority\nProven ability to take ownership: you build the roadmap, do the research, implement the solution, write the documentation, and communicate the rollout\nStrong prioritization instincts - you can look at a long list of IT initiatives and distinguish what actually matters from nice-to-haves, and explain why\nExcellent communication and collaboration skills - comfortable working across disciplines with engineers, scientists, legal, finance, and leadership in a remote-first environment\nIntellectually curious; eager to learn about the substance of mineral exploration and exploration technology\nComfort with ambiguity and a dynamic work environment; eagerness to take on an evolving range of responsibilities at a fast-growing company\nExperience supporting global teams across multiple time zones is a strong plus\nFamiliarity with Google Workspace administration, CrowdStrike, Datadog, or the MacAdmins open-source ecosystem (osquery, Santa, Nudge, AutoPkg) is a plus\nWhat to Expect\nJoining KoBold means getting the opportunity for hands-on exposure to our exploration projects around the world. All employees are expected to travel to project sites, with a minimum of one week per year. Field-facing and technical roles spend significantly more time in the field.\n\nKoBold Metals is an equal opportunity workplace and an affirmative action employer. We are committed to equal employment opportunity for people of any race, color, ancestry, religion, sex, gender identity, sexual orientation, marital status, national origin, age, citizenship, disability, or veteran status.\n\nThis position is full-time, exempt.\n\nThe US base salary range for this full-time exempt position is $150,000 - $180,000 USD, plus equity and benefits including 401k matching.\n\nLocation: KoBold is a remote-first workplace. We are open to candidates currently residing anywhere in the United States or Canada. CST or EST time zone preferred. All candidates must be legally authorized to work in the United States or Canada.\nCompensation ranges are listed in USD. If you are based outside the US, the range may not translate directly: US pay reflects a different market with different competitive dynamics, so we benchmark roles against the local market rather than converting the listed figure.","description_format":"text","description_chars":9957,"description_truncated":false,"requirements":{"experience_years_min":7,"management_years_min":null,"team_size_min":null,"manages_managers":false,"education":null,"security_clearance":false,"languages":[]},"benefits":["401k plan","Equity"],"hiring_locations":[{"name":"United States","iso":"US","kind":"country"},{"name":"Canada","iso":"CA","kind":"country"}],"hiring_excludes":[],"relocation_offered":false,"industries":["Mining","Rare Earth Metals"],"lifecycle":[{"event":"open","at":"2026-09-06T11:27:40Z"}],"visa":[{"country":"US","licensed_sponsor":true,"evidence":"H-1B filings in 12 months: 3","filings_12m":3,"filings_prev_12m":0,"green_card_filings_12m":0,"median_offered_wage_usd":152500,"route":null,"cap_exempt":false,"checked_at":"2026-10-29T16:27:21+00:00","sources":["US Department of Labor: LCA disclosure data (H-1B, H-1B1, E-3)"],"filings_for_role_12m":0}],"liveness":{"score":49,"band":"ok","label":"Likely open","p_open":1,"p_active":0.823,"p_room":0.6,"age_days":106,"expected_fill_days":127,"reasons":["conf:0","win:late","crowd:"],"computed_at":"2026-10-31T05:58:55Z"},"pay":{"stated_usd_annual":180000,"is_top_pay":false},"html_url":"https://alion.io/job/kobold-metals-staff-client-platform-engineer-cpe-remote","json_url":"https://alion.io/job/kobold-metals-staff-client-platform-engineer-cpe-remote.json","meta":{"generated_at":"2026-11-01T02:22:41Z","cache_seconds":300,"methodology":"https://alion.io/methodology","terms":"https://alion.io/terms","contact":"https://alion.io/contact","api":"https://alion.io/developers","about":"Alion is a live layer of people, companies and AI agents: who they are, whether they are real and active right now, what they do and how to work with them, readable by people and by agents and paid per call.","catalog":"https://alion.io/catalog.json","usage":{"tier":"crawler_verified","counted_by":"address","units_charged":1,"used_today":3555,"day_limit":null,"remaining_today":null,"minute_limit":300,"resets_at":"2026-11-02T00:00:00Z"}},"offers":[{"id":"company.slices","title":"One company in depth, by slice","status":"live","price":{"credits":0.02,"usd":0.002,"plus_per_slice":{"credits":0.05,"usd":0.005}},"unit":"per company, plus each slice with data","note":"the employer in depth","call":{"mcp_tool":"get_company","arguments":{"id":178039},"rest":"https://alion.io/mcp/rest/get_company?id=178039"},"human":"https://alion.io/catalog?offer=company.slices&for=job%2Fkobold-metals-staff-client-platform-engineer-cpe-remote"},{"id":"market.stats","title":"A market slice: pay, demand and time to fill","status":"live","price":{"credits":1,"usd":0.1},"unit":"per slice","note":"pay, demand and time to fill for this role and place","call":{"mcp_tool":"market_stats"},"human":"https://alion.io/catalog?offer=market.stats&for=job%2Fkobold-metals-staff-client-platform-engineer-cpe-remote"},{"id":"job.search","title":"Open jobs by role, technology, place, pay and visa","status":"live","price":{"credits":0.02,"usd":0.002},"unit":"per posting in a list","note":"similar open postings","call":{"mcp_tool":"search_jobs"},"human":"https://alion.io/catalog?offer=job.search&for=job%2Fkobold-metals-staff-client-platform-engineer-cpe-remote"},{"id":"company.verify","title":"Is this company real and active right now","status":"pilot","price":null,"unit":"per company","request":{"url":"https://alion.io/catalog/request","method":"POST","body":"{\"offer\": \"company.verify\", \"for\": \"job/kobold-metals-staff-client-platform-engineer-cpe-remote\", \"note\": \"what you need it for\"}"},"human":"https://alion.io/catalog?offer=company.verify&for=job%2Fkobold-metals-staff-client-platform-engineer-cpe-remote"}],"agent":{"mcp":"https://alion.io/mcp/jobs","mcp_open":"https://alion.io/mcp/open","next":[{"tool":"get_job","arguments":{"id":462522}},{"tool":"search_jobs","arguments":{"company":"koboldmetals.com","detail":"compact"}},{"tool":"match_people","arguments":{"job_id":462522},"note":"people open to offers who fit this vacancy"}],"note":"The same data through MCP tools: https://alion.io/mcp/open needs no sign-in (compact searches, postings, people); https://alion.io/mcp with an Alion account has everything.
