You will develop practical machine-vision approaches that reduce scrap, automate manual inspection, and enable robot guidance, primarily by applying commercially available equipment and systems. You will use your knowledge of optics, lighting, lenses, and inspection logic to propose solutions independently, including AI-enabled approaches for complex visual and appearance inspections.\nOur Team\nThe GOC Automation Task Force is based in Japan and works in alignment with Global Operations. The team supports urgent, business-critical automation projects at Molex sites worldwide, leveraging Japan’s ecosystem of high-quality equipment and component manufacturers and Molex Japan’s capabilities in precision machining and high-speed assembly.\nWhat You Will Do\nProvide hands-on vision and AOI engineering support for inspection automation and equipment or system design at Molex sites in multiple countries. \nIntroduce 100% inspection solutions to reduce scrap and automate inspection processes previously performed manually. \nRapidly propose practical solutions using commercially available machine-vision equipment rather than developing detailed machine hardware or software in-house. \nDevelop inspection methodologies from the optical-system level, including lighting design, lens selection, and inspection logic. \nAdvance AI-enabled automation for visual and appearance inspections that have traditionally been difficult to automate. \nApply vision-based position recognition to robot guidance, including part-orientation detection and robot-position control. \nWhen applicable, create 3D CAD drawings of inspection equipment and related components. \nWho You Are (Basic Qualifications)\nExperience planning and implementing automated vision-inspection systems, including launching equipment using commercially available machine-vision solutions. \nAbility to develop inspection methodologies and design vision-inspection solutions from the optical-system level, including lighting design and lens selection. \nNative-level or upper business-level Japanese proficiency. \nBusiness-level English proficiency. \nWhat Will Put You Ahead\nExperience using vision-inspection systems from three or more manufacturers. \nHands-on experience automating manual inspection processes. \nExperience developing vision systems for robot guidance or positioning. \nKnowledge of and practical experience with AI-based image analysis. \nExperience designing or drafting hardware using 3D CAD. \nUpper business-level English proficiency. \nProficiency in Chinese, Spanish, Korean, Vietnamese, or another relevant language. \nAt Koch companies, we are entrepreneurs. This means we openly challenge the status quo, find new ways to create value and get rewarded for our individual contributions. Any compensation range provided for a role is an estimate determined by available market data. The actual amount may be higher or lower than the range provided considering each candidate's knowledge, skills, abilities, and geographic location. If you have questions, please speak to your recruiter about the flexibility and detail of our compensation philosophy.\nWho We Are\nAt Koch, employees are empowered to do what they do best to make life better. Learn how our business philosophy helps employees unleash their potential while creating value for themselves and the company.\nAdditionally, everyone has individual work and personal needs. We seek to enable the best work environment that helps you and the business work together to produce superior results.","description_format":"text","description_chars":3699,"description_truncated":false,"requirements":{"experience_years_min":null,"management_years_min":null,"team_size_min":null,"manages_managers":false,"education":null,"security_clearance":false,"languages":[{"language":"Vietnamese","level":"Advanced (C1)","optional":false},{"language":"Korean","level":"Advanced (C1)","optional":false},{"language":"Japanese","level":"Advanced (C1)","optional":false},{"language":"Chinese","level":"Advanced (C1)","optional":false},{"language":"Spanish","level":"Advanced (C1)","optional":false},{"language":"English","level":"Advanced (C1)","optional":false}]},"benefits":[],"hiring_locations":[{"name":"Japan","iso":"JP","kind":"country"}],"hiring_excludes":[],"relocation_offered":false,"industries":["Manufacturing","Glass & Ceramics Manufacturing"],"lifecycle":[{"event":"open","at":"2026-10-09T03:54:25Z"}],"visa":[],"liveness":{"score":37,"band":"fade","label":"Fading","p_open":1,"p_active":0.665,"p_room":0.55,"age_days":13,"expected_fill_days":12,"reasons":["conf:1","velocity","win:tail","comp:brand"],"computed_at":"2026-10-22T06:10:10Z"},"pay":null,"html_url":"https://alion.io/job/koch-industries-vision-system-aoi-engineer","json_url":"https://alion.io/job/koch-industries-vision-system-aoi-engineer.json","meta":{"generated_at":"2026-10-23T02:52:16Z","cache_seconds":300,"methodology":"https://alion.io/methodology","terms":"https://alion.io/terms","contact":"https://alion.io/contact","api":"https://alion.io/developers","about":"Alion is a live layer of people, companies and AI agents: who they are, whether they are real and active right now, what they do and how to work with them, readable by people and by agents and paid per call.","catalog":"https://alion.io/catalog.json","usage":{"tier":"crawler_verified","counted_by":"address","units_charged":1,"used_today":4738,"day_limit":null,"remaining_today":null,"minute_limit":300,"resets_at":"2026-10-24T00:00:00Z"}},"offers":[{"id":"company.slices","title":"One company in depth, by slice","status":"live","price":{"credits":0.02,"usd":0.002,"plus_per_slice":{"credits":0.05,"usd":0.005}},"unit":"per company, plus each slice with data","note":"the employer in depth","call":{"mcp_tool":"get_company","arguments":{"id":13911},"rest":"https://alion.io/mcp/rest/get_company?id=13911"},"human":"https://alion.io/catalog?offer=company.slices&for=job%2Fkoch-industries-vision-system-aoi-engineer"},{"id":"market.stats","title":"A market slice: pay, demand and time to fill","status":"live","price":{"credits":1,"usd":0.1},"unit":"per slice","note":"pay, demand and time to fill for this role and place","call":{"mcp_tool":"market_stats"},"human":"https://alion.io/catalog?offer=market.stats&for=job%2Fkoch-industries-vision-system-aoi-engineer"},{"id":"job.search","title":"Open jobs by role, technology, place, pay and visa","status":"live","price":{"credits":0.02,"usd":0.002},"unit":"per posting in a list","note":"similar open postings","call":{"mcp_tool":"search_jobs"},"human":"https://alion.io/catalog?offer=job.search&for=job%2Fkoch-industries-vision-system-aoi-engineer"},{"id":"company.verify","title":"Is this company real and active right now","status":"pilot","price":null,"unit":"per company","request":{"url":"https://alion.io/catalog/request","method":"POST","body":"{\"offer\": \"company.verify\", \"for\": \"job/koch-industries-vision-system-aoi-engineer\", \"note\": \"what you need it for\"}"},"human":"https://alion.io/catalog?offer=company.verify&for=job%2Fkoch-industries-vision-system-aoi-engineer"}]}
