Mechanical | Cedar Rapids, IA\nPay: $42-$48 per hour\nPer Diem: $150, contingent on working all required hours\nLocation: Cedar Rapids, Iowa\nProject: Large-Scale Data Center Construction\nSpecialty: Plumbing, HVAC & Mechanical Piping\nThe Opportunity\nWe are seeking an experienced Assistant Project Manager (APM) to support plumbing and HVAC construction on a large-scale data center project in Cedar Rapids, Iowa.\nThis is an opportunity for a mechanical construction professional with experience in commercial HVAC, plumbing, piping, or industrial construction to help deliver complex, mission-critical infrastructure.\nYou'll work alongside project managers, superintendents, engineers, and field leadership to coordinate schedules, materials, subcontractors, project documentation, and costs.\nData center construction experience is strongly preferred, but candidates with solid commercial or industrial mechanical construction backgrounds are encouraged to apply.\nWhat You'll Do\nAssist the Project Manager with daily coordination and execution of plumbing, HVAC, and mechanical construction activities.\nCoordinate with superintendents, foremen, general contractors, subcontractors, and vendors to keep projects on schedule.\nSupport installations involving chilled water piping, condenser water systems, hydronic piping, domestic water, drainage, and HVAC equipment.\nReview mechanical drawings, specifications, submittals, and construction documents.\nTrack project schedules, labor productivity, material deliveries, equipment procurement, and installation progress.\nPrepare and manage RFIs, submittals, change orders, purchase orders, and project correspondence.\nAssist with cost tracking, budget monitoring, forecasting, and subcontractor coordination.\nSupport BIM/VDC coordination and help resolve mechanical installation conflicts.\nCoordinate inspections, pressure testing, flushing, equipment startup, and commissioning activities.\nAssist with punch lists, as-built drawings, turnover documentation, and project closeout.\nWhat You Bring\nRequired Qualifications\n2-5 years of commercial or industrial construction experience.\nExperience as an Assistant Project Manager, Project Engineer, Project Coordinator, or similar construction management professional.\nWorking knowledge of commercial plumbing, HVAC, mechanical piping, or related mechanical systems.\nAbility to read and interpret mechanical blueprints, construction drawings, and specifications.\nExperience with project documentation, scheduling, procurement, or construction cost tracking.\nStrong communication, organization, and problem-solving skills.\nProficiency with Microsoft Office, particularly Excel.\nPreferred Qualifications\nData center, hyperscale, or mission-critical construction experience.\nExperience with chilled water systems, cooling infrastructure, chiller plants, or large-scale mechanical installations.\nFamiliarity with Procore, Bluebeam, Autodesk Construction Cloud, or similar platforms.\nExperience with BIM/VDC coordination, mechanical prefabrication, and commissioning.\nBachelor's degree in Construction Management, Mechanical Engineering, or a related field, or equivalent relevant experience.\nOSHA 10 or OSHA 30 certification.\nCandidates with mechanical field leadership experience who are transitioning into project management are also encouraged to apply.\nWhy It's Worth It\nCompetitive hourly pay: $42-$48 per hour.\nPer diem: $150, contingent on working all required hours.\nOpportunity to gain experience on a large-scale, mission-critical data center construction project.\nExposure to complex HVAC, plumbing, chilled water, and cooling infrastructure systems.\nHands-on involvement in scheduling, procurement, cost management, and mechanical project coordination.\nOpportunity to build experience toward Project Manager and Senior Project Manager positions.\nLocation & Schedule\nProject Location: Cedar Rapids, Iowa\nThis is a project-based construction position requiring work at the assigned jobsite.
