This position is responsible for installing, assembling, and maintaining mechanical piping systems, including HVAC hydronic piping, chilled water, heating water, condenser water, and other building mechanical systems.\nQualified candidates should have experience with commercial mechanical piping installations, the ability to read blueprints and isometric drawings, and a strong understanding of piping layout, fabrication, and installation. The ideal candidate is safety-focused, dependable, and capable of working efficiently on large construction projects.\nKey Responsibilities\nInstall and assemble commercial mechanical piping systems, including chilled water, heating water, condenser water, and other hydronic systems.\nMeasure, cut, thread, groove, and prepare carbon steel, copper, stainless steel, and other piping materials.\nInstall piping systems using welded, grooved, threaded, brazed, and mechanical connections.\nRead and interpret mechanical blueprints, isometric drawings, specifications, and piping layouts.\nPerform accurate pipe layout, measurements, and fit-up for installation and welding.\nInstall valves, fittings, flanges, hangers, supports, and expansion joints.\nInstall and connect piping to chillers, boilers, cooling towers, pumps, air handling units, and other mechanical equipment.\nWork with large-bore and small-bore piping systems.\nAssist with pipe fabrication, prefabricated assemblies, and equipment room installations.\nCoordinate with welders, plumbers, sheet metal mechanics, electricians, and other construction trades.\nPerform pressure testing, leak testing, flushing, and system inspections.\nAssist with mechanical system startup and commissioning activities.\nEnsure all installations meet project specifications, applicable codes, and quality standards.\nFollow OSHA regulations, company safety policies, and project-specific safety requirements.\nQualifications\nMinimum of 3 years of commercial or industrial pipefitting experience preferred.\nExperience installing commercial HVAC and mechanical piping systems.\nAbility to read and interpret mechanical blueprints and isometric drawings.\nExperience working with carbon steel, copper, stainless steel, and grooved piping systems.\nProficiency in pipe layout, measurement, cutting, threading, grooving, and fit-up.\nFamiliarity with Victaulic, welded, threaded, and flanged piping connections.\nKnowledge of commercial mechanical equipment and piping installations.\nAbility to operate pipe threading machines, groovers, power tools, and other pipefitting equipment.\nStrong mechanical aptitude and attention to detail.\nOSHA 10 certification preferred.\nAbility to work independently and as part of a construction crew.\nPreferred Experience\nLarge commercial construction projects, including data centers, hospitals, universities, high-rise buildings, and manufacturing facilities.\nCentral utility plants and large mechanical rooms.\nChilled water, heating water, and condenser water piping systems.\nInstallation of large-diameter carbon steel piping.\nChiller plants, boiler rooms, cooling towers, and pump installations.\nHydronic piping and mechanical equipment connections.\nPipe fabrication and prefabricated mechanical assemblies.\nBIM coordination drawings and detailed mechanical layouts.\nMechanical system pressure testing, flushing, and commissioning.\nPhysical Requirements\nAbility to lift and carry up to 75 pounds.\nStand, bend, kneel, crouch, and climb throughout the workday.\nWork from ladders, scaffolding, and aerial lifts.\nPerform overhead work and installations in mechanical rooms and confined areas.\nWork indoors and outdoors in varying weather conditions.\nAbility to work overtime, weekends, and extended schedules as required.\nProject Information\nLarge-scale commercial mechanical construction.\nInstallation of HVAC and hydronic piping systems.\nNew construction, expansions, and major facility upgrades.\nOvertime opportunities based on project schedules.\nCompetitive pay based on experience.\nPer diem opportunities for qualified travelers, where applicable.\nPotential long-term project opportunities.\nIdeal Candidate\nThe ideal candidate is an experienced Commercial Pipefitter with a strong background in HVAC mechanical piping installations.
