Engineering Manager

What you'll do:

• Manage and grow a team of 5 software engineers, owning their delivery, development, and day-to-day leadership.

• Own the engineering operating system: tooling, vendor lifecycle management, on-call staffing, and platform support, so engineers never lose time to broken processes or the wrong buy-versus-build decision.

• Own engineering performance visibility: build and maintain shared metrics infrastructure across investment tracking, shipping pace, and quality, surfacing signals before they become problems.

• Own investment bucket visibility and financial reporting for engineering, keeping data quality high and definitions consistent across the org.

• Push the boundaries of how we build: champion agentic and LLM-powered workflows across the engineering org, ensuring we're using the latest AI tooling to ship faster and stay ahead as a technology-led education company

What we're looking for:

• Proven experience leading a software engineering team, from delivery through to people development and performance management.

• A strong engineering background as a Software Engineer, with the credibility to earn the trust of Engineers quickly and the judgement to make good decisions when they don't have all the answers.

• The desire to also own shared tooling, systems, and infrastructure that the rest of the engineering function depends on.

• Experience leveraging agentic workflows to speed up decisions, execution, and output, with a genuine interest in pushing that further.
