With over $2.8 billion in annual sales and a commitment to its workforce, Kokosing is the winning team.\nJob Description:\nWe are seeking an Estimator (Purchasing) to service our transportation projects in Ohio and surrounding states. We are considering candidates to work out of our Westerville (OH) or Elyria (OH) office.\nPosition Summary:\nAs a Purchasing Estimator, you will prepare and coordinate complete estimate packages for all work scopes performed by subcontractors and material vendors related to transportation pursuits across our work regions. With Kokosing you will be exposed to and challenged with a range of conventional and alternative contracting pursuits on multiple projects ranging from simple highway rehabilitation projects to some of the largest most complex mega-projects in the region.\nEstimating and Purchasing Responsibilities:\nReview project documents and specifications to determine scope and required content of estimates.\nSolicit material and subcontract pricing according to the needs of each project.\nAnalyze and normalize quotes and enter pricing into estimating software.\nMaintain records and working documents for estimating cost models including accurate information on historical prices from subcontractors, suppliers, and vendors.\nCoordinate subcontracted work with estimating staff to ensure entire bid scope is properly accounted for.\nIdentify risk items in the project documents and help develop plans to mitigate risk items.\nIdentify Value Engineering concepts and other opportunities to gain a competitive advantage.\nAssist in writing and reviewing subcontracts and purchase orders for newly acquired projects.\nCoordinate with project operations as required to help resolve issues with vendors and subcontractors\nFormulate plans for meeting project diversity participation goals for vendors and subcontractors and implement plan on each bid pursuit.\nSolicit diversity participation and maintain outreach documentation to demonstrate good faith efforts in pursuit of diversity goals.\nBuild and maintain good working relationships with vendor community and industry partners.\nParticipate in owner, contractor, and industry events.\nPerform additional assignments per supervisor’s direction.\nEducation and Experience:\nCivil Engineering, Industrial Management, or construction related degree is preferred, but not required.\nPrior experience in estimating, engineering, or procurement roles involving heavy civil construction projects preferred.\nExperience with HCSS Heavy Bid Estimating Software preferred.\nKnowledge, Skills and Abilities:\nMust be able to read and navigate engineering documentation and construction plans.\nRequires familiarity with construction and material specifications and standards.\nUnderstanding of construction contracts and terminology is preferred.\nProficiency in Microsoft office programs.\nCompetent in creating and maintaining spreadsheets.\nProficiency working with numbers.\nPossess excellent communication and interpersonal skills.\n Benefits:\nKokosing offers a competitive compensation and benefits package including medical, life, and disability insurance, paid time off and a 401(k) plan.\nKokosing is an equal employment opportunity/affirmativeaction federal and state contractor.
