With over $2.8 billion in annual sales and a commitment to its workforce, Kokosing is the winning team.\nJob Description:\nWe have immediate openings for Skilled Laborers in the Tidewater region of Virginia (Chesapeake/Norfolk/Newport News).\nSUMMARY\nWork on various construction projects by transferring from one task to another where demands require worker with various experience and ability to work with or without close supervision.\nESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:\nAbility to drive work trucks as needed.\nPerform maintenance of traffic and flagging.\nPerform job site housekeeping duties.\nAssist with measuring distances from grade stakes, drive stakes, and stretches tight line.\nBolt, nail, align, and block up under forms.\nSignal operators of construction equipment to facilitate alignment, movement, and adjustment of machinery to conform to grade specifications.\nAssist with leveling earth to fine grade specifications.\nAssist with mixing concrete.\nAssist with smoothing and finishing freshly poured cement, mortar, or concrete.\nAssist with positioning, joining, aligning, and sealing pipe sections.\nAssist with erecting scaffolding, shoring, and braces.\nMop, brush, or spread paint or bituminous compounds over surfaces for protection.\nSpray materials such as water, sand, steam, vinyl, paint, or stucco through hose to clean, coat, or seal surfaces.\nApply caulking compounds by hand or with caulking gun to seal crevices.\nAssist with demolishing structures, sawing lumber, dismantling forms, removing projections from concrete, mounting pipe hangers, and cutting and attaching insulating materials.\nEDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE\nMinimum one-year related experience and/or training.\nPreferred experience with structural steel, bridge/utility/road work\nKNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES\nRead and comprehend simple instructions, short correspondence, and memo\nAdd and subtract two-digit numbers and to multiply and divide with 10’s and 100’\nApply common sense understanding to carry out simple one- or two-step instructions\nDeal with standardized situations with only occasional or no variables\nFollow directions\nHandle basic hand tools, such as shovel, pick, broom, hammer, saw, paint brushes, etc.\nLight or heavy handling\nJob site housekeeping\nFlagging\nErect construction signs, cones, etc.\nRequired to stand; walk; climb or balance; stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl\nUse hands to finger, handle, or feel; reach with hands and arms\nLift and/or move up to 100 pounds\nClose vision, distance vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and ability to adjust focus.\nCERTIFICATES, LICENSES, REGISTRATIONS\nMust pass Flagger Certification test to act as flagger.\nBENEFITS\nKokosing offers a competitive compensation and benefits package including medical, life, and disability insurance, paid time off and a 401K plan.\nExpected base hourly range for this position is: $18 - $23\nThis compensation range is specific to the job level and takes into account the wide range of factors that are considered in making compensation decisions including, but not limited to: education, experience, licensure, certifications, geographic location, and internal equity.
