Ensure that project goals are accomplished safely within prescribed time frame and funding parameters by performing the following duties personally or through subordinate supervisors.\nProject pursuits and execution will be in the Mid-Atlantic region centered around the Tidewater area of Virginia and include MILCON and infrastructure, piers, dry docks, levees, or flood walls for USACE, NAVFAC, and other government agencies.\nThe scope of this role may include leading field execution for a single project or a specific discipline/area on a mega project in the federal market segment, using varied contract procurement methodologies (Design-Bid-Build, ECI, Design-Build, MATOC, MACC, IDIQ, etc.).\nESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES\nSchedule, plan and coordinate personnel, equipment and materials for self-perform portions of the work.\nCoordinate work activities of subcontractors and provide GC support as required by the subcontract to execute the work safely and effectively.\nReview line drawings from Field Engineer and implement line drawing into the field with the Foreman.\nIdentify conflicts between elements of the work and crews and eliminate them.\nOrientate new trades for self-perform crews.\nLead safety and productivity planning on designated work items with the crews.\nCoordinate layout needs.\nCoordinate dates with responsible Engineer on long lead and major materials needed.\nReview bulk material and trucking usage logs from the Field Engineer and implement course corrections to minimize waste and cost overruns.\nAssist Project Manager on cost projections for assigned work elements.\nEnsure that all self-perform work crews have a backup work plan in the event of a conflict between crews and/or Subcontractor.\nAssist the Field Engineer on managing Subs.\nCoordinate with the Materials Field Engineer on staging of all materials onsite. Develop an effective site logistics and laydown plan.\nEnsure Foreman and Field Engineer are keeping accurate and up to date as-builts weekly.\nApprove timecards for field crews and ensure accurate quantities are claimed daily.\nEnsure a thorough and accurate daily report is submitted daily inclusive of daily reports from all subordinate superintendents and assigned subcontractors.\nBuild and maintain a culture of quality and safety where work is performed safely, accurately and according to the contract specifications with a goal of no rework.\nEDUCATION AND/OR EXPERIENCE\nPossess a 4-year Bachelor’s degree in engineering or construction management.\n10+ years experience with extensive knowledge of construction, design, finance, and management as well as proven leadership in a self-performing general contractor role required.\n5+ years of experience as Superintendent.\nKNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES\nMust be able to understand, interpret, and consistently apply safety laws, company policies/standards, and collective bargaining agreements.\nAbility to apply innovative and effective management techniques to maximize employee performance.\nThorough understanding of corporate and industry practices, processes, standards, etc. and their impact on project activities.\nMust possess superior communication and interpersonal skills (tact, diplomacy, influence, etc.).\nAbility to build trust and achieve results with clients and company team members.\nAbility to plan strategically over the entire span of a project and foresee and mitigate obstacles to performance.\nBenefits:\nKokosing offers competitive compensation and benefits package including medical, life, and disability insurance, paid time off and a 401K plan.\nKokosing is an equal employment opportunity/affirmativeaction federal and state contractor.
