Sensors play an increasingly important role in enabling intelligent products, condition monitoring, predictive maintenance, and data-driven decision-making. You will drive sensor-related innovation, evaluate and introduce new technologies, collaborate with suppliers, and support product development, manufacturing, quality, and field operations.\nYou will contribute to the development of sensing solutions that improve product reliability, safety, energy efficiency, and sustainability. By transforming physical measurements into actionable information, sensors form a key foundation for future connected products and digital services.\nYou will be part of the Machines & Drives Tribe within KONE Technology & Innovation and work closely with sourcing, manufacturing, quality, field support, suppliers, and other KONE technology teams. You will report to the Product Owner and receive technical and professional support from the Chapter Lead.\nThe position is located in Hyvinkää, Finland. We have a hybrid working model, and the nature of the work requires regular visits to the office, laboratory, and factory.\nMain Responsibilities\nLead the development and lifecycle management of machine-related sensing solutions and components\nDrive sensor-related R&D and innovation activities in collaboration with internal stakeholders and external partners\nEvaluate, validate, and introduce new sensor technologies supporting future KONE products and services\nAssess and manage supplier-driven component and sensor changes throughout the product lifecycle\nDefine technical requirements and verify sensor performance against application needs\nAnalyze measurement data and field feedback to support product improvements and root-cause investigations\nPlan and coordinate sensor verification, testing, and documentation activities\nCollaborate closely with suppliers on product development, qualifications, and technology roadmaps\nSupport manufacturing, sourcing, and quality organizations in sensor-related topics\nProvide technical expertise and support for field operations, service organizations, and other engineering teams\nContribute to future sensing technology strategies, digitalization initiatives, and intelligent machine solutions\nThe ideal candidate will have\nM.Sc. or B.Sc. degree in Electrical Engineering, Electronics Engineering, Signal Processing, or a related field\nStrong practical experience in electronics, signal processing, and sensor technologies\nExperience with motion feedback sensors such as encoders, position sensors, speed sensors, or similar technologies\nUnderstanding of sensor data acquisition, analysis, and interpretation\nGood understanding of embedded systems and sensor-related software interfaces\nExperience leading technical development projects or coordinating activities across multiple stakeholders\nStrong analytical and problem-solving skills\nAbility to work effectively in international and multidisciplinary teams\nConsidered an advantage\nExperience with industrial automation, motion control, robotics, drives, or elevator applications\nKnowledge of embedded software and sensor communication interfaces\nExperience in sensor qualification, verification, and reliability testing\nFamiliarity with Python, MATLAB, Simulink, or similar engineering tools\nExperience working with component suppliers and external development partners\nUnderstanding of condition monitoring, diagnostics, or predictive maintenance solutions\nKnowledge of acoustics, vibration measurement, or machine health monitoring\nExperience with functional safety and reliability engineering\nWhat we offer\nWe offer a unique opportunity to work with world-class machine technologies in a global engineering organization.
