We are recruiting a Bid Manager to join our team!

The Bid Manager is a key commercial role within the UK & Ireland Industrial Equipment business, responsible for leading the development and submission of high-quality technical and commercial proposals for Industrial Crane opportunities.

Reporting to the Sales Director, ISE UK & Ireland, this role will act as the central point of coordination between Sales, Engineering, Operations, Finance, Procurement, Legal, and external stakeholders to ensure competitive, compliant, and professionally presented bids are submitted on time.

The role will play a critical part in improving proposal quality, increasing bid conversion rates, supporting sustainable order intake growth, and strengthening Konecranes' position with main contractors, consultants, and industrial customers.

Key Responsibilities

Bid Management & Coordination

  • Lead the end-to-end bid process from enquiry receipt through to proposal submission and contract award.
  • Develop and manage bid plans, timelines, responsibilities, and review gates.
  • Coordinate internal stakeholders to ensure timely delivery of technical and commercial inputs.
  • Organise and lead bid kick-off meetings, progress reviews, and submission reviews.
  • Ensure all proposals are submitted in accordance with customer requirements and internal governance processes.

Proposal Development

  • Develop professional, compelling, and customer-focused technical and commercial proposals.
  • Review customer specifications, tender documents, drawings, and contractual requirements.
  • Prepare executive summaries, compliance matrices, technical submissions, and commercial offers.
  • Maintain consistency, quality, and presentation standards across all submissions.

Commercial & Contractual Review

  • Support Sales Managers in developing bid strategies and pricing approaches.
  • Coordinate internal risk reviews and approval processes.
  • Ensure commercial compliance with company policies, delegated authority, and governance requirements.
  • Work closely with Finance, Legal, and Operations teams to assess project viability and risk exposure.

Main Contractor & Customer Engagement

  • Support engagement with main contractors, consultants, procurement teams, and end users throughout the tender process.
  • Respond to technical and commercial clarifications.
  • Participate in customer meetings and proposal presentations, where required.
  • Develop a strong understanding of contractor procurement processes and evaluation criteria.

Essential

  • Demonstrable experience in a Bid Manager, Proposal Manager, Tender Manager, or similar role.
  • Proven experience managing complex technical and commercial tenders.
  • Strong commercial awareness and understanding of contractual risk.
  • Experience coordinating multidisciplinary teams and stakeholders.
  • Excellent written communication and proposal development skills.
  • Strong project management and organisational capability.

Desirable

  • Experience within cranes, lifting equipment, industrial equipment, manufacturing, construction, or infrastructure sectors.
  • Experience working for or directly with main contractors, EPC contractors, or engineering contractors.
  • Knowledge of NEC, JCT, FIDIC, or similar contract frameworks.
  • Experience bidding for capital equipment and project-based solutions.
  • Familiarity with CRM systems and proposal management tools.
  • APMP or equivalent bid management qualification.
